I have a Squier Strat I've been contemplating turning into a mini-bass. I've even envisioned what could be an interesting way to run normal, short-scale strings through it as if it were actually a 30" scale. But this is not the thread for that discussion.
Last question; Are you gonna give it a finish or some color?
Since the last photo, I stained and sprayed poly. Think I'll just keep it as is, natural wood.Cool!

GOOGLY EYES!! A googly eye on the front and back would be amazing, especially with a frankenmule face to match!!
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that, aesthetics aside, making a 3+1 and cutting the excess headstock off is a good cure for neck dive.
I did exactly this mod on a Squier Jag bass that had neck dive. I "photoshopped" it using Microsoft Paint just to see what it would look like first. Just leaving it with a straight cut is OK in my book but there are certainly sculpting options. Just depends on individual taste...

To both shorten the length of the headstock and move the weight of the G-string tuner in closer to the nut. All this to cure the neck dive on the Jag, and it worked at zero expense.
I would actually have preferred a 2+2 arrangement but the shape of a Fender headstock doesn't lend itself to that configuration very well.

It wouldn't be too hard to throw a veneer on top to cover the old hole.
Yes, I have to plug the treble hole and move it about an inch, but that's for later. I'm also planning to veneer it with mahogany to hide all those holes and plugs. I'm leaving the back alone to show my "work".

Whatever option you come up with but do not chop its head off ! I would definitely give this idea a try though :
