To cut or not to cut...

I swapped my 4 in a row tuners to a 3+1 arrangement, but it leaves the top really barren. Should I cut the extra off and reshape or leave it as is...or something else...

...just for the record, I (kinda) don't want to chop it off, because this has been my mule bass for a lot of experimenting. That said, I don't have a problem chopping it either...

What to do, what to do.

That's easy…put some kind of "Mule" or maybe even a "Frankenstein" decal on it…basically, anything that can be reversed. I'm no luthier, but somehow I don't think it'd be a good idea to start hackin' & sawin' away. :rollno:

You could always glue a compass and a sundial up there. That way if they ever decide to update Jean Shepard's Christmas Story, they could substitute the J. Wes Deluxe Field Explorer Bass for the Red Ryder BB gun.

There's a thought! Or how 'bout something in the same ballpark?

Two decals, first one would be a graphic of the cracked, glued-together, but still standing leg lamp. The second would be text; "Electric Sex", from Shepard's line, "…the soft glow of electric sex." drool
