I am using the Gotoh tuners that were on it on another project and I had these 2+2 tuners laying around that I wanted to use. I got a drop d in the same style, so 3+1 was my option with 1 treble tuner left over.
I don't really want to modify, but I really don't like the current look. Inlaying a coin is an option...so is the clock.
I do like that photoshop rendering, though...

You can put an Eye Bolt through the old tuner hole. Then some silicone, make it pucker, paint it pinkish. Then add truck nuts.

GOOGLY EYES!! A googly eye on the front and back would be amazing, especially with a frankenmule face to match!! 
This one made me spit my coffee on my screen. I actually pictured the pink ones dangling off his headstock while he's gigging.
I really like the bottle opener idea, but would probably find a really good sticker, decal, logo plate or something else to put there. No cut! You might want to change back some day.

So what if it's "silly"? Big, flippity-whoop. Nothing wrong with that, even if it was made to look even more ridiculous. It's not a fashion show, a beauty contest or a debutante ball. The OP wants to personalize it even more than he already has. Frankly, I love some of the ideas people have been throwing out…meat hooks and googly-eyes…the sillier, the betterer!
So, I'll phrase my question differently; "Why not 'silly'?"
Of course, the "headless option" is somewhat intriguing. However, I can just hear my first, serious/studious art teacher calling it "a waste of perfectly good 'negative space' with which to put something interesting upon."
(You'd think 'negative space' was her mortal enemy or something! But, as always, she's probably right.)
I did the exact opposite when I built my mini bass. I added material to the headstock, because, to me, any other shape looks unnatural. I wouldn't change it.
