Tokai T-Bird

Hi Guys!
I'm getting a new bass soon, and i have set my sights on a Tokai Thunderbird.
I really cant get much info on it and most of the info i got on it is mixed.
Some Sources say its a bolt on, others say its set neck while there are also some that claims it to be a neck thru.
Two shops sell it here in Singapore,
one in a classic sunburst, and the other in a cherry burst.
one claims the bass is made of Alder, while the other says its Mahogony.( the latter was uncertain)

Could it be that they are different models?

I doubt either of them are Bolt-on, due to the lack of a screw plate at the back of the neck, so that leaves the question of set neck or neck thru.

Could someone enligten me on the Tokai T Birds and how they fare against other basses and Tbirds. I tried the 2 T-Birds and was really drawn to their tone:bassist: ( In my noob-ish opinion).

Thanks! :D

Had a look at the RichToneMusic (seems to have the widest range of Tokais here in the UK) website, and these are the specs on the Tokai TB48.

Made in China
Solid Alder Body
Set Maple Neck

Rosewood fingerboard with dot inlay
2 x Bass Humbucker Pickups
2 x Volume
1 x Tone Pots

I believe the Epiphone Thunderbird also has an Alder body and Maple neck, though it is a bolt on type. Although neither the Tokai or Epi have the neck through type of the Gibsons, it is generally accepted that a set neck is favourable to a bolt on.

However it is also what feels right to you. Try out other makes and models of T-Birds you can get your hands on, and see what you prefer.

Hope this helps :)
