Tom Araya Signature Bass

Hi all,

Has anyone tried this bass ?

I'd like to know if this is a good bass lol.
Any feedback on it from people who played it?

ESP makes some quality basses. I have one of the B500 4 strings with active EMG pups and a mahogany body and absolutely love it. It compares with most of my other higher-end basses.

I doubt too many on this forum will dig the TA though...

I like it...I haven't gotten one, simply because I prefer a 5'er, so I got the F-255 instead. There's only two things different from the TA and the F-255 (besides the extra string) and that's the inlays and the cut on the bottom of the bass. Otherwise, they're identical. I just didn't feel like shelling out another $300 for the TA, and have to set it up BEAD.

The TA can do BEAD just fine, it's a 35".

I've played the LTD TA... I was amazed. Great bass. The EMGs have AWESOME power, but the VBT setup is still easy to use from the get-go. The bass is ultimate in comfort, and after playing a TA600 I seriously considered gettnig a TA600 instead of a B405 for my next bass (I'm sure I want an ESP/LTD), but the 5 strings + Active electronics prevailed.

IMO, if you want an all around "metal" looking bass that is pretty comfortable to play and doesn't have serious neckdive, you can't go wrong with an ESP F series or TA.

It's probably not bad, but just from the looks alone I'd never pick it up without good reason.

this thing is slayer in a box, that an svt2 pro and 2 8x10 and you have instantly nailed Tom's bass sound of the past 6 years. Buy it, but make sure you like it. I feel i might have gotten board with it so i decided to stick with rays!

But I'd like to know something. On the ESP site, there is 3 versions of this bass. There's the Tom Araya Signature model, the TA-600 and there's also the TA-200.

What's the difference between those three ? I guess the Tom Araya esp model is superior to the other 2 ?

The Tom Araya ESP model has an ebony fingerboard, an alder body and a Gotoh 206B-4 Bridge. The TA-600 has a maple body, a rosewood fingerboard and a ESP bb-604 bridge.
That's about it for the difference between those two .

Which is the best ?

The woods, components, and electronics are the main differences between these basses...as you already said. If I had the money and was interested in this bass I would obviously go for the sig. model. However, many would find the differences between the sig modle and the TA600 less than noticable and unless you are semi-professional or better, I would go for the 600 series. It still has a great sound from the EMG pups and electronics and will save a ton of scrill.
