I could say a lot of easy picks like Mark King, Stanley Clarke, Geddy Lee, Jonas Hellborg, Mark King etc etc...

But Larry Klein got a fantastic tone on Joni Mitchell's "Shine". That album wouldn't be the same without his amazing lines and sound!

Wow! Unsung for sure. Unbelievably, this appears to be THE ONLY mention of Anton on these forums!

Anyways, I totally agree that he is a tone hero. I think his playing style and tone are a huge part of the Cowboy Junkies' sound. There is a certain tonal magic to how his bass and Margo Timmins' voice work together.

His playing is a wonderful study in the "less Is More" school. One need not play a lot of notes if one is playing the right notes well, and Anton does that for sure.
