Too Many Knobs vs. Not Enough Knobs

Because a lot fewer people have problems with fewer knobs than too many, evidently.

Maybe but does that make it necessary for those that have a problem with what they feel is too many to frequently have to say something? I mean, I could understand it if a person was suggesting that someone needed to acquire a particular instrument. Less understanding when that’s not the case…

Why is it that when someone posts an active bass that there frequently tends to be an individual or individuals who find it necessary to post a statement like, “too many knobs for me.”? I don’t believe that I’ve ever seen anyone make a statement after a person posts a P bass saying, “Not enough knobs for me.”.

I think I may have too many knobs, or not enough.

My basses don't have a lot, but what I plug into does. I might still need another knob or two.

So far it works for me and my situation...

I'm not an active player. I'd be happy all day long with a volume knob only....

IME (now that I have a Sterling Joe Dart), I would generally but find that 'only a volume' only works if the bass is wrapped with flats. My tone pot gets a lot of use on my P bass wrapped with rotos.

I gig 3 passive Wicks with volume, blend, and tone. I have had a couple of active Ibbies with lots of knobs and a mid switch and I really dug the tone control available. Didn't need to change settings too much from gig to gig anyway. Knobs no prob.

only play sunburst P with tort and flats, through a b-15.
“I’m a set and forget” kind of player.
Have not changed my strings in decades.
Never have to tune my bass.
Batteries can fail on a gig and leave you stranded.
I have an EQ on my amp I don’t need one in the bass.

Not enough knobs.

When not on the forums they sit at bars, and give advice on investing, relationships, and career path.

Although; they rent a room, are unmarried, and highest vocational position achieved involved a broom.

The Bar they play every week, is on Sundays, and Tuesdays. The band members rotate throughout the night.
