Yeah, the tweed mode on the GT2 sounds pretty cool! It's a very overlooked pedal for bass in my opinion.
Maybe. It's one of those things you need to try for yourself. The SansAmp emulates the Ampeg tone which Justin has never used.

The GT-2 shares no similarity between the Bass Driver series which is what OP has.
The GT-2 in JC's chain isn't an always on effect either.

I think a lot of his tone comes from the Wals themselves!
from there comes the biting trebley overdrive, and he uses 4 lines of amplification 2 amps and 2 god knows what happens there, and of course the wals

If i remember correctly justin only actually uses the gt2 when he uses his bass whammy. Probably to warm up the whammy a little to get rid of some of the digital flavor it puts out.
A lot of his main tone is from running clean and dirty rigs and he uses a rat and eq that's always on in his dirty rig.

@ex-tension are you sure about that? I thought that guy used an rbi into mb lmt800. Could be wrong. I didn't think he used a bddi

I will say that the sansamp RBI is great for getting that sound. Here are a few examples of Tool style tones. This is with no sansamp. Just Turbo Rat and EQ to get the dirt. This is with the Sansamp RBI. Obviously you gotta get past all the effects parts but I think the basic tone is a good rendition.
This is an example of the Sansamp RBI but much more dry. Only a little grit.
Those are some examples of various JC style tones with different dirt sources. RAT+EQ, sansamp RBI wet, sansamp RBI more dry. Everything is recorded direct so there are no massive amps and cabs involved. I realize having the wal helps but you would be surprised how far you get with a Stingray HH through a Sansamp RBI.

Yes there is. Boss makes a pedal that is only $30 and makes the cheapest Ibanez or Squire (not Squiers however) sound just like a Wal. Check out their site, its all over it.
