Tool tone/FX sticky thread ver. 1

Hey TMB what do you use to attach the pedals to the board? It looks a lot cleaner than velcro thats for sure, honestly I really like the way your board is set up, Nice and clean with all the wires and mess inside

Yea i hate velcro. I have yet to find velcro that at least one side of the adhesive that hasnt turned into molasses....very messy and can wreck the bottoms of alot of pedals.

I have ripped up my board from my "Pedal Board#1" vid and doing a Tool board. Will probably build another smaller board with some of the other pedals i got.

Heres your answer on how i attach them. You can find "kits" on ebay but the cost comparison is outrageous. My local bicycle shop let me borrow the chain splitter for the 20min that i needed it, and find yourself a cheepo chain and your set.

So, earlier on it was said that Justin uses the T21 GT2 for dist/od? Is this primarily a guitar pedal? How much 'bass' comes through?

I had an early model one and it cut my bass BIG time (and I have the onboard EQ of my bass boosted about halfway from "flat") and even my band complained about how much low end it cut out.
I have some similar pedals coming in, but if they don't have the "tone" I'm after, I may have to look at getting a different version of the GT2 and then a blender pedal, or the Tech21 California+blender. I really love that Boogie distortion sound on bass.

It sounded awesome by itself, but in the mix it was extremely noticeable even w/ the "Low" knob dimed. I know others have had different/mixed results, but unfortunately these were mine. :( However if you listen to some soundboard recordings of JC, on tunes where he engages the GT2 you can hear the bass drop-off as well which I thought was interesting, even with his layered/tiered setup. It's even moreso noticeable w/ the Tonebender.

Thats a really good idea, sounds cheap and VERY efficient. So do you just glue the "8" looking chain to the pedal, and then drill a screw/nail on the other hole into the board?
Thanks for the info btw

Since you might not want to glue stuff on yr pedals you could also use the screws holding the ground plate of the pedal itself to attach the "8".

saw tool recently at the big day out,... unfortunately too far away from stage to see much :(

I do know that when they played flood Justin must do something thats way different to the usual 'grindy bass' sound or any of his normal noticable settings for songs cos it did that over the top almost high gain ODB3 sounding grind for the intro,... put a grin on my face to be sure :)

It is believed that it is the Rx Overdriver rather than the GT2...bot no real concrete footage to confirm it.

Yes...no need to glue the one end to your pedal. Just use the ground plate. If your screw is on the side of your pedal...you can use a bigger bicycle link and bend it at a right angle. Some pedals just wont work with a small "8". But there are other methods out there. If you do an image search on google and type in "pedalbaord pedal attachment"

If your using Boss there is a height diff between the plate and the rubber. i use a tiny metal locking washer from Home Depot, to make up the diff. I have seen guys glue rubber rings to one side of the "8" to compensate for this

Thanks so much that helps a lot, seems pretty ingenious to do that, with such a simple concept. Thanks again

Paul didn't record 46&2, that was Justin. But you're right, he did play the Ray for that song, as well as H. I don't think Paul was involved in the writing of either song, was he? As mentioned before, I think he did co-wrote a couple of songs on Aenima, but not those two.

and i guess you are a firm believer in the japan model bf-2?

I actually have the first run (white knob/green label) version in the mail as we speak. When Boss changed over from Japan they kept the green label for a bit and put white knobs on....i will let you know which one i like better after i a/b them

TMB

Ok so i compared them on the exact same settings, then reversed the order and did the same thing. They both sound identical and once i got in a good rhythm of switching them fast, without looking i couldnt tell which one was on.
Now i have seen Blue/Yellow+Silver Labels on ebay and sites, but havent tried any to compare. These two would actually be close in manufacturer dates but in 2 different countries.
