Tool tone/FX sticky thread ver. 1

20201030_201322.jpg

So here's an updated pic of my evolving board. I've added a Behringer Preamp and borrowed a digitech Whammy, octave (up) fuzz and Rat clone from my guitar player.

My board in the next few months is gonna include at the very least a 2112-DI (to send a clean XLR signal and then a dirty 1/4" to my GK) and a C4 synth w/a MIDI controller (with a flanger preset and others for various interludes) in the FX loop with my Delay.

I'm actually really liking the Behringer as a stompbox, it adds some nice thickness and compression when I'm using my practice amp (Fender Studio 40 running a 800 RB sim). But, for rehearsal and recording, I've been able to dial that in with my MB Fusions Tube pre-amp.

Again, I'm going for a Tool-esque sound. Not a direct copy. However any advice/tips are always appreciated....especially for the whammy. I can't wrap my head around that thing...

Not sure how much Sweetwater is informed on what's going on....Justin has had the new pedal on his board for at least 6 months.
I worked there for about a year in sales. If it were anywhere near being something they were ready to launch, it would be very easy for them to find out. I could literally call up the Dunlop rep and get questions answered when I worked there. They are still experimenting with it, apparently. Like I said it’s going to be a while.

You could call Dunlop...but they won't tell you anything. I had a rep that buys for a small chain of stores here in Canada call them a month or so ago.
When someone says "it isnt even a thing" when obviously it is...Its because they haven't been able to place an order yet.
If you see a new Porsche out on a test track with its badging missing, and you go to the Porsche dealer and ask when is that new model coming out and they tell you..."oh that isnt even a thing"?
You say...."yea ok buddy"

common sense when dealing with a salesperson that probably didnt even know there was a signature pedal being made.

Listen, you have a guy who works in sales at Sweetwater; the largest online retailer in America telling you this signature pedal doesn't exist yet after reaching out to Dunlop and receiving a reply back from them. His words were "They said this pedal doesn't exist yet and likely won't for a while". He went on to say that it was in the works. I took this to mean that they are still in the process of testing ideas out, which is normal. This pedal has been "in the works" for at least two years though so I'm not holding my breath. I know this because I spoke to the Dunlop rep in 2018 about it when they were there for a sales meeting. Then last NAMM people were talking about it being a real thing, at which point I thought they might have actually finalized the design, which according to them, they haven't.

You are free to make up your own mind and obviously have. I am not invested in mimicking his tone so I have no dog in the fight. Hopefully I'm wrong and it comes out next week...or whatever.

Cool story....well you wont be wrong...it will be a bit before we see this pedal. We will probably know a release date 3 months ahead of time.

My point is the wording from the salesperson says something. Maybe "not even a thing" means to him. Not available for order yet. Maybe he said it, to make it look so far away that you buy a different Wah that day.
But i would say a bunch closer to seeing a release date than being "not even a thing"
Hence my Porsche comment. Im also having a problem finding another enclosure like this one....and at one time thought maybe they gutted some pedal to have a prototype to try live...or possibly they already started production on the chassis?
Anyhu....we can hope its not going to be a year or something. Dunlop would have been smart enough to time this between the release of Adam's guitar and Christmas?...im sure they would have sold a bunch of these Sig Wahs. :bassist:

maybe true but also COVID has thrown a spanner in the works for a lot of stuff... hoping it’s not the case but I know shipping dates of stuff even in stock are all over the place, dare I say a supply chain may have issues...

Definitely a possibility...especially if these are to be assembled in the USA....and Dunlop had cases of COVID. I would imagine all the components are from overseas?
Been lucky in Canada for shipping. Got a pedal from Japan recently that took about 10 days. It was free shipping, so they sent snail mail.
