It was on Reverb earlier today. I might have saved the link...will check when i get to laptopWow where at? I saw some on Reverb.com but they were $139.
Soo what were the other 2 mistakes ?Correct!
The old ones had a slightly different font and the in/out (instrument/amplifier) were reversed back then.
Now the current re-issues are using the same font as Justin's 90's version.....but have now started reversing the in/out again.
Justin's tech made 3 mistakes in that video. The Tonbender being a vintage was one of them.
Soo what were the other 2 mistakes ?
Inquiring minds want to know …

One if the last real questions for this forum is what pedals is he using here?
It looks like the mark bass amp is on, but based on his proximity I'd say he's using the Aguilar amp/cabs.
Attached is a screenshot with magnification of the clearest view of the pedals, I'm willing to wager the first white boss is a tuner..
You don't need all the equipment.. just the most expensive partIm willing to bet it’s just a boss tuner, EQ and maybe a pork loin?? It’s probably all stuff that was at that “gig”. This should prove to any and all, you don’t need all his gear to sound like JC. Cause even then , you probably won’t. He still sounds like him and almost none of that, short of the bass EQ (if that’s is what one of those is) is his gear he’s known for using. But anyway, could be way off. But he was clean almost the whole time I think until he kicks something on. Looks like a pork loin to me…..

Tuner and DD3 delay maybe? It's really hard to tell because the pics are so blurry...
Further research proves it IS in fact a delay.
After hearing that, that 3rd pedal could be a chorus….or do any of the boss compact series have mod built in?? I def hear chorus too.

As a former Wal bass owner, I can verify that 95% of the JC tone IS the bass itself.
We don't know for sure which parts of Descending were the Stingray Special (which was supposedly modded for 24v) but the opening riff is for sure the Stingray. I'm not so sure about the part that starts at 3:10; that sounds like a Wal to me. The dry bass parts starting at 3:42 were definitely recorded with the Wal.
If I had to guess I'd say it's at most 1/4 of the song done on a Stingray, possibly ONLY the main riff.
Take it easy; we're just talking about music we love and trying to figure out how the musicians made it. We can disagree without turning it into a pissing contest about how many Wal basses you've played.Ive been playing a Stingray for 20 years and Wal for 14.
If you have an ear because of playing the tar out of these 2 basses its pretty easy to pick them out. Justin also mentioned about the Wal in the LATTER part of the song...which made it even easier. Get yer ears checked. Lol
Hey whatever blows your hair back....you can choose whatever time in the song that YOU think the Wal starts.Take it easy; we're just talking about music we love and trying to figure out how the musicians made it. To wit: Starting at 3:42 there's a section of dry bass before returning to the main riff at 4:03. Then at 4:09 it's dry for a while. Later at 5:36 it's the main riff for a short moment before going dry again at 5:54. I believe all of those dry sections are Wal, and the main riff is played with the Stingray each time. When they play the song live he uses the Stingray for the whole thing because the main riff *makes* the song, therefore it's more important to get that right than it is to be true to the recording for the rest of the performance.
Justin said "The Wal wasn’t sounding as good as it could have in a couple of parts, so I broke out a few other basses and got experimental with the amp settings — but that was only a few minute sections. My fundamental bass tone comes from my Wal bass, so I used the other three basses to just add a bit of sparkle in various places."
To me this means that indeed, most of Descending is the Wal but the main riff is the Stingray.
