Just joined the forum & stumbled across this thread so I thought I'd make a comment!!
It was good to read peoples lists - many names you would expect & a few unexpected too. I was a bit disappointed to see that Jim Lea (Slade) only made one posters list, he was the bassist that made me swop from playing guitar. His bass lines are melodic & in places are almost a second lead guitar. I ended up buying an EB3 because I loved the sound he used to get from his, such a great player perhaps not taken seriously because Slade were unfortunately written off as just a fun band. Andy Fraser is another melodic player who inspired me to get the EB3.
Another glaring omission in my opinion is Norman Watt-Roy (Ian Dury & many sessions including Frankie Goes To Hollywood). Just listen to "Hit Me With Your Rhythmn Stick" & you'll see what I mean.
