I've been knocking on the door of room#3 for 5 minutes with no answer. WTH?
Things I've learned from Toronto's GTG
1: Post better instructions to actually find the room.
2: Next time just bring an amp or two some effects then play everyone elses' cool stuff
3: You can covert jazz guys to metal with nothing more than a Warwick Vampyre Dark Lord and a silly grin
4: Use the camera you bring, the car is no place for photography
5: Bring beer and a designated driver
6:Have an iPod on hand for the road crew. Having just spent the afternoon listing to bass guys pop, slap, and jazz noodle, and do Geddy, poorly(LOL) I won't be subjected to Bolt Thrower till Amnesty International says it's cruel and unusual punishment....

Great to see everyone today! I always have a blast at the Talkbass GTGs and this was no exception. Thanks to the Heff for organizing everything. I gotta youtube this Bobby Vega guys before I forget.

Maater of fact I did plat when I got, home. I was too shy to play in the presence of players who were so much more experienced. But not their fault. Judt myhang up. The group was very welcoming and open.
Had a really great time at today's GTG.
Thanks to Drunk Heffalump for organizing everything including the name tags.
As always it was great to try out different basses, amps and cabs (that fearful is divine Deb). It's always fun to try out unique instruments which I'd never ever get to play otherwise.
Things I've learned from today's GTG:
1. The Warwick Vampyre Dark Lord is a blast to play no matter what style of music you use it for. I loved its extra thick strings. Now that's a REAL bass - no twang whatsoever! Yes it's true, it IS the best bass for metal, but you can easily play other styles on it too.
2. Fanned frets are very easy to get used to and so is the 37" scale.
3. Bob's custom fretless is a killer "singing" bass.
4. $100 basses can sound, play and feel great.
5. Rammstein's shows are a must watch.

I learned I should have got there earlier! But thank you to Drunk Heffalump for putting it together. Great venue too.
Did the same on my Yamaha 350BB-f using boat epoxy. I think I first heard of this from an article about Brian Bromberg.

Willis can make a fretless really sing. You can also see his 3 finger picking technique in this video.
I wish to extend out my sincerest gratitude to our most gracious host Drunk Heffalump. It was such a pleasure meeting everyone. Good people, sweet bass gear, and a common passion for making music makes for a great time!

Two thoughts
1: It's never to early to lay plans for a fall version, so say somewhere in Oct?
2: If you ever want a second opinion on a possible new purchase, I'll more than gladly lend a hand. After all might have found the same if not better for less, just PM me and I'll try and check in at least weekly......
