Canada Toronto Ont. GTG......

They supply PA. Have two boards, small or larger. The larger one is on the hurting side. We brought a percussionist in with us for the gig so we had to go the larger board. Some of the sliders were busted. The monitors were already set up when we arrived at each side for a side wash. They are small and not loud and presented challenges as our key board player puts his keyboards, Harmonica and vocals through and complained he couldn't hear himself all night. (Go figure!) They don't supply a sound guy. But I was able to dial in a really good FOH mix.

The stage space is tight and drums are in the corner so very lively and makes the stage on the louder side. Our drummer has a nice touch and I mic'd the kick and an overhead so he settled in after a few songs to help with stage volume.

We had to bring our own crowd. Granted we played on a Friday night of a long weekend so there wasn't much of the regulars there that night. I've been down to see the Chicago project play and it was packed to the hilts and the PA was blasting.

I definitely prefer the Ajax location, nice stage and the manager helps adjust the sound but pays less.

We've confirmed a Saturday night in February. Our keyboard player picked up a small Traynor for a stage monitor......I'm glad, she tended to be loud in the monitor mix. Thanks for the tip. Post when you play Drums in Ajax again.....I would pop in.

Nice. We're booked again for 21st. I'm hoping my keyboard player picks up a monitor amp as well. He blasts his keys through the monitors and then complains he cant hear his vocals. Meanwhile both are screaming through the mix.

Now that sounds familiar! Lead singer just picked up an acoustic amp as well.....now just vocals in the monitors......so nice!

Perhaps I will drop in for a bit with my wife on the 21st.

That is a beautiful bass! I'm sorry, I haven't read through the thread, is that an NYC? I've always wanted to try out a Sadowsky but I need to make my way over to Club bass in Toronto. Hahaha, what the wifey doesn't know will not hurt you! I have played at that venue a couple times but under different establishment names. I would love to get our current band in there for a show, but I'm not in charge of bookings so maybe we'll play there one day. I've been working in Ajax recently and driving by there frequently, I wonder when you guys are playing there next?

A good friend of mine has "lost" his custom-made guitar. The Beck taxi company is being entirely non-helpful. I am personally offering a *cash reward* for any information that leads to the return of this instrument. Just PM me, and when we get the guitar back I will EMT you a payment. Here is the information about the incident (in his own words), as well as some pictures of the guitar.

"I hailed a Beck taxi after a performance with two other people at approximately 2:30am, the morning of 27th September within the vicinity of B Side Lounge, 669 College Street and we were dropped off at Sneaky Dees on College and Bathurst. Unfortunately I left my guitar in the trunk of the taxi and I paid in cash. I have called Beck's customer service line and they have said that a messaged was flagged to all taxis. However, the guitar has not yet been reported found. The window of time between the time I was picked and the time I realised and called the taxi company is 2:30am and 3:20am."

"I am asking for your help in following up on this issue. I am desperate to find any way to get my guitar back. I have canvassed the street to see If I could pull any camera footage to get the taxi number, but have not yet been successful. Please folks keep and eye out for me. The guitar is Furch GCC24 custom cut out guitar. Cedar top and cocobolo back and side. "Kunle" engraved in pearl on the 12th fret of the feet board. It's in a black Furch case."

I hope that the guitar is located, I have a feeling there's a pretty good chance it could show up in a pawn shop or music store....:(

Yes my new Sadowsky is a New York City produced Verdine White signature Deluxe Satin model. First 2nd and continuous comment is "freaking Wow!!!". One of the nicest instruments I"ve ever held in my hands. Playability, tone, value, all way above any expectations.
Having said that I blew my bass acquisition budget beyond belief.
So, I'm very excited about the Express as I'm making the move back(after 20 years of playing a 5 stringer) back to a 4. So I would love to see how good the Express basses are put together. Rumour has their necks are very good.

Oh that Verdon White model has looked tempting since I first saw it introduced in a video from NAMM. I'm a big-time Fender Jazz Bass and P bass guy, but I've always felt that Sadowsky was a bit of an evolution of the model, and so I really need to get my hands on one! When do you guys play at drums and Flats next?

We are booked for Friday Dec 21st. I'm using a Genzler stack with this PJ.
