I had to look that up. Fascinating how this states unique central and eastern topography came to be so different from the western third of the state. High and dry desert with deep gorges and extreme temperatures occupy the eastern 2/3, vs the lush evergreen forests further west, with the seperation line made possible by the Cascade Mountain Range.Part of the "Channeled Scablands", I think? Gorges that are far too deep and wide to have been carved by the tiny streams that run in them now...deep gorges

I used to drive Seattle to Spokane every Tuesday, and loop south to return on Wednesdays for approx 3 years. It was never a boring drive.
