sky art excellentWe were headed into a volleyball match the other day (me and my 10 year old daughter). There were some cool clouds in the sky. She, being a very artistic and creative thinker, said "They look like somebody swiped their hand across the sky with chalk on their hand." Then she said "Oooh! Try to get my hand in the pic like I did it!"

Coatbridge? I spent a day there photographing with a medium format camera once only to discover that I hadn't loaded the film properly. Only a handful of shots came out.![]()
...it was took to a south wales scrap yard where it was left for many years.
excellent shotsYeah! Summerlee museum in Coatbridge. I'd been a few times as a kid, so it was nice to head back. It has improved a lot, though it was a shame to see the massive Beyer Garratt engine in such a state of corrosion and disrepair. Likewise the other big static, outdoor exhibits were in a fairly rough state. I guess museums struggle with the upkeep of things like this.
Barry? It is amazing how many things came out of Barry! A few engines are still in scrap condition, dotted around heritage railways. I have some railway photos to follow, but first...
I visited the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens today and saw these mushrooms:

We've also had an explosion in these Painted Lady butterflies. Once in ten years they swarm over to the UK from Europe and Africa:

Yesterday I walked a section of the Water of Leith:

Wow. And wow. And maybe wow.OK, the amazing pics thread is just that....amazing. The photography thread here is impressive as well. I don't want to barge in on their parties at all.
That being said, phone cameras have become pretty impressive lately. As impressive as professional photography equipment? No. That's just silly.
Short version: This is the place to post pics from YOUR phone camera. The pics don't have to be amazing, but that would be cool too. I'll start. These are unedited and not "enhanced" in any way and come straight from the gallery of my Galaxy S6.
Probably gonna blow my tough guy image but I have a thing for sunrises, sunsets, and water....and clouds.View attachment 1045819 View attachment 1045820 View attachment 1045821 View attachment 1045822 View attachment 1045824 View attachment 1045830 View attachment 1045832 View attachment 1045838 View attachment 1045839 View attachment 1045840 View attachment 1045842 View attachment 1045844 View attachment 1045845 View attachment 1045847 View attachment 1045848 View attachment 1045849 View attachment 1045850 View attachment 1045851 View attachment 1045855 View attachment 1045857

Trespassing and theft... my two favorite pastimes besides honing my smarta** skills...Bone stock Galaxy S6 set to "Auto". None of these photos were edited or enhanced in any way. The long skinny ones are "panoramic" which simply means you can slowly "swipe" the camera across the landscape and, if you do it steady enough, the camera will capture whatever it passes by and tie it all together.
You inspired me to prove it. I have the day off and traveled about an hour or so to handle some family business. There is an area I have been meaning to stop and smell the roses in for a long time. Halifax, NC. There's an overpass and a deep gorge (by our Coastal Plains standards anyway) that I have wanted to explore. Phase one.....
