TOTALLY BUMMED!

So I got my WCA 411 Pro Cab and PRO Fet 5.1 head the other day, and today I noticed a serious rattling from the bottom right speaker rattling realy bad. I took it out and heard something rolling around inside the speaker cone. I emailed the folks I bought it from, but since it was after business hours I dont expect to hear from them till tomorrow. So after putting everything back together, I hooked up my headphones and continued happily plucking away. Then the volume started getting lower and lower. I checked all my knobs, etc. Then the head just quit. I pulled it out of its sleeve thinking it might be getting to hot, no go! So I tried everything full blast and didn't get a darn thing. I fiddled with the gain knob a little, and when I put a little pressure (very little) the sound came back but only for a second. Im really bummed out at this point, so I emailed the folks again and told them my new issue.

Im a first time cab owner, but Im pretty positive I didn't do anything to screw it up. I never played it loud, just moderate volume, even though it should be able to handle a little loud playing, thats why we buy them right. So my question is what the heck happened to cause my whole rig to go caput in 3 hours? Totally bummed out man, totally bummed

I bought it from a well established dealer, not locally though. I feel bad putting their name out. I've had it since last friday and have played maybe 5-6 hours on it total. Im thinking, and hoping that this is a freak occurence.

nope brand new....I'm sure I can return it, and get a new one.

A return is definitely in order. If they are a "well established" dealer, you should have no problems getting a replacement.

+1. all the "well established" dealers i've dealt with would be more than happy to replace a bummer cab. keep your chin up! and keep that receipt!

Well, some good news, I think that my head was acting up last night because I was jamming outside, and I dont think the outlet was getting enough juice to the head. I live is base housing, and the particular house I live in was built in the mid 50's, I played on it this morning for about 30 minutes and no problems arose, now its just the speaker in the cab I have to worry about. PHEW!

I'd still have the head checked out. Since playing with the gain knob kicked it back in for a minute, it could be a colder solder joint about to break. Among other things.
How'd the bad speaker sound today?

Im wondering if the speaker acting up like it was that it might have caused something to go wrong with the head. But like I said, I played it alot this morning and it didn't give me any problems whatsoever.

I don't think its a good idea to use any amp without a speaker load on it.

I don't think headphones replace the load on the O/P trans.

That's typical for tube amps. SS amps don't care so much.

for tube amps, definitely yeah. SS doesn't care. From what I've been told.

Well, I got word from the folks I purchased from, they have contacted Warwick and are most likely going to send me a new speaker for the cab, and they are looking into the issue with the head. I've been playing it a bunch today and have had no problems with it. Kinda strange though that it acted the way it did last night.

i thought you didn't want to name the "established dealer"

although yeah all the big music stores (MF, GC, BC) have good return policies and you never(rarely) hear about unhappy customers on here

I didn't because I am weary of things like that, but it all worked out really well. The CS was amazing, and I was surprised at how fast DBG got my new cab in the mail. Beaver over at BC was awesome, I'll definitely be a return customer their.
