Not to reopen now that you have closure, but this is all kind of premature since you haven't picked your amp/cab yet. Most of these pedals will take on different characteristics with different stacks. To me, the SFT is the very definition of touch sensitivity. Just search some of the YouTube videos where they show this exactly. Now, the SFT is definitely "colored" because it's whole purpose is to emulate an old SVT head. But to me, that's exactly the point: recreate a tube head and the characteristic of overdriving the tubes. Can't recreate tubes without starting out with tube "color". Even then, the SFT will sound different with different amps. With my Micro VR ministack it's insanely good. With my GK MB200/Avatar 210, it's okay.
Of course, you could make your ss amp purchase an Aguilar Tone Hammer, and then you kind of have all that touch sensitive tube behavior baked right into the amp's sound. You just have to be down with that tone to begin with.
