Traben Club, Level 2.

I have several basses and tend to use a lot of them. So I keep switching around between the Spector Legend Custom 5, a B.C. Rich NJ Warlock 5, the Traben Array Limited 5, and a few others, but I always come back to the Traben Moyer Havoc Standard 5. That one seems to be my "one" right now. It feels just right. I've gotten to like the super-wide (for a 5) string spacing and love how it sounds, and to quote the Goat - "it's comfy".
:D

Strung up my traben Moyer sig with DR neons in green about a week ago. The green and black go really well together, IMO:

Hello to all!. I'm new to the forum here and to Trabens. Basically I'm looking for advice and opinions from other more experienced Traben users as I was inspired to try a Traben Chaos Core 4 string based on all the good things I had read from other users here.

Heres the problem my Traben arrived with horendous fret work on the treble side of the neck under the G string. There are at least five frets that are slightly lifting from the board which causes pronounced fret buzz on the 9th, 11th, 12th and 14th frets and all are roughly finished. There is also a flaw in the paint job under the bottom horn and although the electronics work the soldering looks pretty scruffy.

I live in the UK and bought the bass off ebay new for £250 which is dirt cheap. It was made in Vietnam not korea. I believe the korean made Trabens are held in higher regard but I cannot find any here in the UK. The seller has offered me a replacement or a full refund. Basically are you guys playing the Korean made models? Has anyone else had such issues or is this just a one off thing? Do you think a replacement is worth it or should I hold out for a second hand Korean made model? I really like the looks and feel of the bass and the Rockfield pickups with the Aguilar pre-amp totally kick ass, better than my Ibanez SRX-700.

Lastly I dont mean any dissrespect to Traben or there bass's and sorry this is such a long post. I would greatly value any opinions given.

Thanks.

i got my array attack (korean made) from merchant city music in glasgow not long ago, so they are here in the uk somewhere. they have the chaos core and some neo models too. mine sounds great and doesnt have any noticeable problems that i can see, been gigging it for a few months now.

Thanks for the lead, I've just sent them a message asking about their country of manufacture. It costs a fair bit more (+£150) but it may be a case of you get what you pay for, as in hind sight £250 for a new Core seems a bit to good to true for a quality instrument.

That Ibanez SRX-700 maybe looking for a new home soon!

All other opinions are appreciated, thanks.

1hat kind of rigs are you playing your trabens through? I currently play mine through a Hartke HA3500 and a 4X10 and 1x15 Hartke cab. But since its tax time I'M thinking of upgrading to a Genz Benz Streamliner 600 and replacing some speakers in my 4x10 cab.

Just curious what other rigs all us Traben guys are using.

My only amp right now is my Ampeg BA115HPT combo with a tube preamp section. Sweet sound with all my basses, especially the 78 P with it's new flats!

I got this one broken in half for $40:

After gluing it together and painting it, it is now one of my go-to basses. I liked this one so Much that I went out and got a Chaos Core 5, nothing but problems:

I returned that one and got this Neo Custom 4 (Pure Joy):

Nice score on the Tribal Sun! What did she look like before the restoration?

Sorry to hear about the Chaos Core. I love mine, not my go to anymore, but a solid player for me.

Beautiful Sun, Chokeslam! Might I ask what was wrong with the Core, because I was looking into one.

This is my plain-jane Array 5 (yes I want a number):

Also I have 2 questions.1) Which has better build quality, the Chaos Obsession or the Chaos Core? I just wanted some input, since there arent any Traben dealers in my city. 2) Where can I buy single B and E strings that are long enough for my Array 5?

Sorry about the delay, the root cause of my disdain for the CC5 was the stripped out truss rod from the factory. I got it home and unpacked all of the goodies and had a terrible neck buzz. I took the truss cover off to reveal stripped truss rods. I immediately took it back to musiciansfriend and tried to get my money back. They said "you took the truss cover off, how do we know you didn't damage it" I said "go get another one from the warehouse and check it". Sure enough, stripped truss rods.

Anyway, back to the tribal sun. I really didn't have a lot of foresight with picture taking as I was really concerned with getting her back to her glory. Here is one that I did take, the line between the pickups and pots was where it was completely broken off and dangling by a wire. I'll have to see if I can dredge up another one. Yes, it was painful to paint over such a nice top.
