I too love the look of that Core! I'll be getting my hands on one within the next 4 weeks and am very much looking forward to it...

In the mean time here's my Neo (sorry for crap pic, my phone is pish):

My band were recording a couple of years back and our producer had never seen one... He is a bassist himself and couldn't believe the tone he was getting off it putting it straight into the mix, he was well impressed! I was a guitar player and moved onto bass with a Ibanez Soundgear before falling in love with my wee Traben, packs a hell of a punch!

EDIT::
Should I perform an 18V mod. to this or is it uneeded?

Beautiful Sun, Chokeslam! Might I ask what was wrong with the Core, because I was looking into one.

This is my plain-jane Array 5 (yes I want a number):

Also I have 2 questions.1) Which has better build quality, the Chaos Obsession or the Chaos Core? I just wanted some input, since there arent any Traben dealers in my city. 2) Where can I buy single B and E strings that are long enough for my Array 5?

There ya go, sorry about the delay guys.

Awesome basses too!

Here's my 4-string Traben Torrent...got it for $200 in near mint condition last December and love it! Can I get a number?

Also, does anyone play theirs with the back cover off? I get a lot less buzzing when the screws aren't holding the cover in...

Anyone here have a clue what the model number on the back of a traben's headstock represents? I picked up a used traben at a pawn shop this weekend, and have no clue which model it is.

It has the tribal bridge like the arrays, but also has the 5 piece necks like the limiteds and neckthroughs, but it is not a NT, and I am pretty sure it is not the limited. It also has the abalone inlays that are off center with the abalone "T" for the 12th fret that also according to the website is also only on the NT or limiteds. Also this has the soap bar type of pickups, not the other type.

The only problems with the bass when I got it was the cover for the truss rod is missing (which would have answered my question as to what model it is), and the cover for the battery compartment. I made a custom cover for the battery compartment and will do the same for the truss rod piece once I know which model name to put on it.

I will upload some pics after I take a few.

The model number on this one is: T07486

Reason I am having a hard time figuring this out along with what was already mentioned is this bas is also finished in red. Which according to the website and the tribal bridge models is the limited. Again this is not a spalt top. Might be a discontinued model?

Thanks,
PieRat

I know this is probably a stupid question but have you emailed Traben?

I know this is probably a stupid question but have you emailed Traben?

Gah I meant to reply here yesterday....(sorry), been slammed here at work, which is a good thing!

Yes I did email Treban, and did not get a reply...at first!

I posted here because I had not heard back from Traben. I finally sent another email to Traben yesterday, basically asking if that was typical of their customer service. I immediately get a response from a very pleasant gentleman.

It seems that the original email never made it thru to them, or so was told. Anyway I sent him the description, a somewhat terrible quick photo, and model number and after some searching on his part he replied that I had found myself an Array Premium. They were only produced for one year, and that was 2007.

He even sent me a link to the exact bass except for one difference. At some point when they started making that bass in 2007 they had the abalone fret inlays offset to the E-string side, and it had the huge abalone "T" for the 12th fret instead of two dots. Then for some reason they moved the inlays back to the center of the fret board as shown by the stock photo in the link provided.

You cannot just get to that link from going to the website as they do not make that bass anymore, hence the confusion over me trying to figure out what type Traben I had got my paws on.

On top of all of that, He asked me for my shipping address and was going to go down on their factory floor and find the pieces I was missing off of some damaged basses and mail them to me free of charge. So I went from cursing their customer service under my breath when they failed to initially reply to my inquiry after a few days, to really appreciating their customer service and the guy that was personally helping me.

So after all was said in done. I picked up this bass...Possibly even more limited as it has the offset abalone inlays instead of the more massed produced center inlay fret board shown at a pawn shop with a gig bag for just over $200 after tax was added. :hyper:

The link the Traben rep sent me:

So gimme a number for the club! :bassist:

Sorry I wasn't meaning any cheek, I thought it was a stupid thing to say after I wrote it!

The few times I've been in touch with them they have always been really helpful, and that's well class that you're getting the bits you need gratis... Seems like you got a bargain! I'm gonna have to start skulking around pawn shops :hiding:

haha! No cheek taken! :)

I realized after reading your first reply that I left out the fact I had already sent them an email, and also had not replied back that I finally got in touch with them. I will take a nicer picture of it now that is it cleaned up and such.

Should I perform an 18V mod. to this or is it uneeded?

By the way probably nothing anyone cares about, but I had one that looked almost IDENTICAL to that. They look nothing like the stock photos Traben usually uses, but that's to be expected as burled always looks different, you never know what you'll get.

Anyway I sold one that looked just like that, mint (as new) condition to a guy for less than half what I paid for it, on FleaBay. Of course, the guy screamed that it didn't look like the "stock" photo and he didn't like it. I tried to explain that they are all different, due to the burled top. Ended up he got to keep my bass for FREE, because it just wasn't worth it to fight as Paypal would have helped him screw my behind, I just decided to get it over with and he got his money back and kept it. Such a deal. Want my car too buddy and everything I have because I ruined your life with that nasty horrible looking bass? I bet you do, knobgobbler. And he had the nerve post in his feedback we had a "rough" time but in the end it was ok (for him). Takes all kinds. That's why I no longer sell anything on Fleabay and never will sell anything again where Paypal is involved. It's cash only or hit the road, jack.

Ironically Paypal later let me as a buyer get screwed because I bought "virtual" goods which are not covered. That has NO relation to this bass I just feel like warning others if you buy "virtual" goods using Paypal the seller has a license to steal from you, so do NOT do it.

Best.

Wow it really does take all kinds. Just looked on Fleabay for Traben, found this:

Traben Array Limited 5 String Electric Bass Guitar | eBay

It's a USED Array 5, and this dude only wants over 3 times what a new one cost, starting bid 1500 buy it now for 1650 with "free" shipping. Such a deal!

I want what these people are smoking. Seriously. Are they nuts or on drugs?
