Traben Club, Level 2.

Here's my 4-string Traben Torrent...got it for $200 in near mint condition last December and love it! Can I get a number?

Also, does anyone play theirs with the back cover off? I get a lot less buzzing when the screws aren't holding the cover in...

Gah I meant to reply here yesterday....(sorry), been slammed here at work, which is a good thing!

Yes I did email Treban, and did not get a reply...at first!

I posted here because I had not heard back from Traben. I finally sent another email to Traben yesterday, basically asking if that was typical of their customer service. I immediately get a response from a very pleasant gentleman.

It seems that the original email never made it thru to them, or so was told. Anyway I sent him the description, a somewhat terrible quick photo, and model number and after some searching on his part he replied that I had found myself an Array Premium. They were only produced for one year, and that was 2007.

He even sent me a link to the exact bass except for one difference. At some point when they started making that bass in 2007 they had the abalone fret inlays offset to the E-string side, and it had the huge abalone "T" for the 12th fret instead of two dots. Then for some reason they moved the inlays back to the center of the fret board as shown by the stock photo in the link provided.

You cannot just get to that link from going to the website as they do not make that bass anymore, hence the confusion over me trying to figure out what type Traben I had got my paws on.

On top of all of that, He asked me for my shipping address and was going to go down on their factory floor and find the pieces I was missing off of some damaged basses and mail them to me free of charge. So I went from cursing their customer service under my breath when they failed to initially reply to my inquiry after a few days, to really appreciating their customer service and the guy that was personally helping me.

So after all was said in done. I picked up this bass...Possibly even more limited as it has the offset abalone inlays instead of the more massed produced center inlay fret board shown at a pawn shop with a gig bag for just over $200 after tax was added. :hyper:

The link the Traben rep sent me:

So gimme a number for the club! :bassist:

I am going to temporarily give my self number 74, as I think BatNastard would be 73.

By the way I love the Bass you got there Soilent_Goat ...Almost like a "camo" feel to it.
Yup, that's it.

My drummer got this bass for me. I know nothing about it and thought this would be the best place to inquire about it. I believe it may be an Array. It has a spalted top. My only observations so far are that the "Chrome" nut, which buzzes like crazy has to go. It needs a set up, but before I mess with it I'm going to do something about the nut. Thinking some Blue Steels will go on it.

Any hep I can get as far as controls, what it is, etc... would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you. Are these low end Trabens? He says he paid about $400 for it.

It isn't a brass nut though. Far as I can tell it's chrome colored plastic.

I couldn't tell you, but with the flame top, I'd guess it was more of a mid range bass, maybe an Array Premium or Special, $400 would be a fine price. I'm honestly not too sure though.

Both of mine are chrome plated brass(Kore & Tribal Sun), it could be plastic on the Arrays though.

Funny thing about the Chaos Core that I bought recently (and is posted above). It is the only bass I have that picks up spanish radio on either of my amps! Seriously, whenever I plug in and play with this amp, a spanish radio station comes through very clearly and distinctly. It is the only bass out of seven that this happens with and it happens with either of my amps, in different rooms in my house. Weird. After a little research, I saw under the reviews of the Traben Havoc on MF's website, someone else had the same problem with radio interference with their Havoc. My Havoc doesn't have that problem, but it doesn't have the Aggy pre-amp like my Core does - maybe the issue is with the OBP-3?

It's here, second review down:

Buy Traben John Moyer Signature Havoc 5-string Bass | Signature Model Electric Bass | Musician's Friend

Weird. When I am not playing it is irritating to the extreme. Anyone else have this issue or any thoughts on this problem?

Thanks!

It definitely is not a Premium. The premiums have a chrome plated brass nut....That was what I found out I had picked up. Mine is blood red flame maple top. Yours is an interesting burst finish. Do what I did and contact traben through email. I did and spoke with a guy name Tim. He replied quickly and helped me determine what type of Traben I had as mine was also missing the truss rod cover which is labled with the model type.

EDIT: Hell the more I do look at yours though it looks like my flame maple top but a natural burst finish instead...hmmm Make sure if you find out what it is to let us know. According to the site though besides the chrome nut the only colors available in the premiums were the red and the black. Also the Premiums are one of the Trabens to have an abalone "T" on the 12th fret instead of the dots. Cannot wait for you to find out what type it is. :)

What is the number on the back of the headstock? Mine is "T07486" which the only part of that number I can understand is the 07 meant the year it was fabricated in. The premiums were a one year only deal, all made in 2007.

My '78 Fender P when hooked up through a direct box into my old Fender BXR 100 in the church we used to attend used to send radio into the church sound system. Never did it anywhere else. Only in that church with that amp, didn't matter what direct box we used. Obviously not an active electronics bass.

I found the truss rod cover in the gig bag it came in. It is an Array Limited.
