Vikingraider1 - I've always wanted to try a Moyer 4, but never ran into one. Sounds like you got a great deal on it. And you're right about the pre - I can't believe how huge they make those basses sound. Nice score!

Haven't been happy with my Chaos Obsession 5 since I bought it new. Really quiet bass so I finally decided I'm going to put an Aguilar 18V preamp in it. Getting it prewired with Volume, Blend, Push-Pull Mid, Treble, Bass, and an Active/Passive switch. Just need to save up $213 for it.
I'll give the pickups one more chance after that, then I might change them too.
?? Really ? You wanna try and get hold of a John Moyer - the output is huge, even from the active input on my Trace Elliot amp.

Won this in an online contest from Musician's Friend several years ago, but it remains unplayed as I'm pretty exclusively an acoustic guitarist...I don't even own an amp. Apparently only 100 were built in this configuration (light maple flame-out fingerboard, etc.).
Over the next few days I'll be trying to figure out how to post it in the classifieds forum, but for the time being anyone who wants to view my album of about 18 detailed photos can go here.

So Now B.C. Rich is manufacturing the John Moyer Havoc model...seems not much has changed excpet the logo on the headstock..lol
Hanser Holdings owns both companies.....I wonder the reason for the switch?
The Greg Weeks Sig is BC Rich now as well from what I have seen. Traben is still making new basses. Just not getting a "push" from Hanser. BC Rich is a much more well known name and must be an easier way to promote for them.
Either way they are still making Traben's just seem to have given up on artist endorsement and new models which we haven't seen in 2 years now or 3.
zachreh said:I have the same problem on my array obsession too. When I compare it to other basses like fender and music man, the traben just seems to have a hollow and weak sound compared to the other basses. The only way I can get it to sound somewhat decent is to use the bridge pickup with the bass bosted. Should I change the pre amp and pickups to seymore duncain blackouts?
