Hey there all you fellow Traben owners. I found this the other day as I was looking to get my New Chaos Obsession 5 string. Figured I would join up. I have a 4 string array in Blood Red that I have had since May of 08'. I'll throw pics of them both up once I get my new Chaos this next week and get one of the numbers from ya and be a part of the club.

Oh ya happy New Year guys.

#19 dude, but I expect pics from ya! Like I said to the others(still waiting on them:ninja:).

May I join?

I'm new to TB and the proud owner of a Traben Array Premium 4 by the name of Betty. Here she is:

wow, im kinda ashamed to admit i havent visited this thread in some time. thats a nice limited you got there snakeman. i usually dont think they look all that good w/o the red, but yours is definitely the exception.

btw, what exactly do you mean by the stock pups being "darker"?

By stock pickups, he means the "Traben Custom Combos" that come on most Trabens(the unmarked, covered ones), they seemingly aren't as bright as the Rockfields that come on some new models.

I really, really like the stock pups. They offer a lot of tonal variation that I'm afraid I might not get with the Rockfields. I do still wish to try a newer model with the Rockfield pups. Has anybody tried them? I believe they had them on the Bootsy bass before it was discontinued. That's a bass I would've really liked to try...

Snakeman has one with Rockfields, and a few guys have Chaos Cores with them.

I'll let ya know how the rockfields sound on my chaos obsession when I get it. I hear that the Array's with the regular traben stock pickups have a more "rock" sound so probably better for heavier stuff and I hear the Obsession's have a smoother sound with the rockfields but Im sure the Obsession will still sound pretty tough and 100 times better than my array. I hope anyways.

I got a question for all you guys. I was thinking of getting my basses Intonated. Anyone had this done on their Traben's? We play in a really low B Flat tuning and just wondering if the intonating would help out at all.

I have never had this done to any of my basses but just curious if there are any benefits or non-benefits to doing it. And with the Neck-Thru im getting just wondering if its not a good thing to do to a neck thru.

Any info would help.

The rockfields sound great, you can get pretty much any sound out of them that you could possibly want. I'm definitely a fan of em :smug:

Edit: The bass should be fine tuning down there, it just might take a little tweaking of the action/truss rod. I can tune my obsession down to drop C and not have to touch the action or anything and it plays fine. At the moment, my cheapo Ibanez is tuned to drop A# and even it handles it just fine.

Well, a bass should always be intonated, are you going to stay in this tuning? If so definatly do it, or get it done.

I've not heard of anyone unhappy with 'em yet!:)

Ya Dark the obsession's have basically the same setups as the regular chaos from what I understand except I think the difference is the Obsession's use the regular Traben Pre-Amp with the Rockfield soapbars and the spendier chaos' use the agulair(not sure on spelling) pre-amps.

And the tuning ya we use that low B-Flat tuning for our standard tuning. We go a step lower for a few thing's but for the most part we are in B-Flat.

So here is another question then since it sounds like something I should do. When I take it to a shop to get the intonating done. If I tell the guy that would be doing it to intonate in to B-Flat he would know what I'm talking about Im guessing then right? Just wanna make sure whenever I get around to doing this Its done right ya know what I'm saying.

He should. Is it the five string your tuning to B flat, if so you can tell him you want it set up and intonated for a half step flat, he'll know what to do.

Or you can check the setup area of the forum, its a pretty easy job ot do yourself if you have a decent tuner.
