I gather Trabens don't get much love around here? Why is that?

people don't seem to like the bridge, and they judge them without playing them just due to their looks. And even if they do try them, it's normally at GC or somewhere where the basses aren't set up well, so they get a bad impression

What Cardinal said, which is a shame really, they are real nice instruments. I've got nothing but compliments on mine, from musicians of all kinds.

I am out supposed to be getting a Ric -- I am saving for one but then... I saw.....a Bootzilla...and fell in love....(the pheonix rocks too).... these things are harder to find then hens teeth from what I can tell so far. I have put a for trade feeler downstairs for one. Anyone here have a Bootzilla? What are they like? Neck specs? From what a traben owner told me they should have a Jazz type neck which suits me just fine. Any probs with Bootzillas (besides attitude? j/k LOL) that I should know of? Any place anyone can point me to that might have one? New/used, doesn't matter though I think used would be less of a sticker shock?

well in the last year (and the last 6 months for sure) their sales have outweighed their production...that coupled with the fact thet they use some odd woods (Which they were having trouble getting) the new batch won't be available until the end of January or the first part of February and from what Tod over at Traben has told me via e-mail the majority of those have already been sold or on back order....

I have two a 5 string Array Obsession and an Array Limited and both necks are the most comfortable, fast and articulate necks i have ever played on (and considering i own or have owned Ibanez, B.C. Rich, E.S.P. Godin, Fender Clones, OLP, EBMM, and a whole host of other basses) that is saying something

welcome to the G.A.S.

that coupled with the fact they have not been around very long....so the gear snobs have to make fun as they are to afraid to break away from the herd, or to try something new or out of the box...( i mean if it dosn't have Fender on the Headstock you can't be a real bass player right?)

i still think the bridges are a bit cheesy, but the neck coupled with the sound and feel are what sold me! I mean who cares what it looks like when it sounds great right?

I say it all the time...

Play what you like and like what you play.....

oh and here are my girls

Shoot, the bridges are one of the things I like about them. LOL!!! But now I got double gas....4001 Ric and a Traben Bootzilla, though the Pheonix isn't bad looking either. And I do keep reading really good comments about the necks which is a definite plus for me. I heard the Bootzilla is no longer made? How long ago did they make them?

I assume you mean this one?

they just discontinued it this past year...but there are dealers that still have stock....there is a dealer in Florida that snags all their old stock as well as their B stock and Sells them on E-Bay....Sam ash Still had a few a few months back...

I'm not sure but i think it was only produced for a couple of years...

but they still make this one...

I actually wrote Fender on all my basses headstocks, with sharpies.:smug:

I like the bridge, so its got the looks and sounds, for me, but if I didn't like the bridge, I'd still love 'em.;)

Fixed.:p

We could get a Bootzy bridge and neck, and put them on a Ric, two birds, one stone.:ninja:

Ok, your profile is set to private, so you'll need to either tell us what model you have, and its colour, or provide us with a pic, from another source.;)

Either way, I'll say to you, No. 17, because it seems down to me to pass out numbers, damn' OP ain't bothered:scowl: plus, I'm far too trusting! :D

It was family picture day, so finally got some better shots of the Tribal Sun:

Love it in the light.

As for the "now that I've gigged it a few times" review, LOVING IT. Only thing that could even come close to a "complaint" right now is that it is almost too hot. It's got so much punch and drive too it I'm sometimes afraid it's gonna melt the amp, lol. Fortunally, I got the Traben to get something that really would just cut through the mix and slap you in the chest, and it does just that.

The comments on it have run the normal Traben gambit, from "OMG *** IS THAT THING" to "OMG THAT IS THE COOLEST LOOKING BASS EVER." And I love both reactions.

For me I've found the best sound to be about 80% MM bridge and 20% neck on blend, with a generous boost to bass, slight cut to mid, and slight boost to the highs. This is then run though a TubePre for that great tube sound.

Dear Darkstrike,
the mention of the music farm makes me happy. apparently Ohio is a great place for trabens. speaking of, there is a frankin-traben at the Columbus guitar center its a chaos (judging by the paint job) with rockfield pickups being sold as a regular chaos. if it got mixed up with an attack or a core model that's a good deal. unfortunately i didn't ask to see the pre-amp. i hope someone on here reads this and buys it.

sincerely,
sasquatchofohio

p.s. have you played one of the newer trabens with the rockfields? because i would like to know how they compare to the sun and kore models

sasquatchofohio

I have one of the newer Array Obsessions as well as one of the older Array Limiteds and i have to tell you that in a side by side comparison the Rockfield electronics are vastly superior to the stock Taben electronics....kind of like comparing a Dodge Viper to a Dodge Neon...

seriously though....the stock electronics are quite a bit darker then the Rockfields....

Cool, that would be a fantastic deal!

Not yet, sadly, that's one of my '09 plans, to get a Chaos Core, or an Array Attack. I do hear that they are similar to Duncans, the MM pickups and Jazz's, anyway.

Yes indeed, my ones, the pickups are quiet dark, but I raise 'em high up.

I really wish that Rockfield would sell 'em seperate, even if it was just as replacements for Trabens and you had to provide serials ect.

hey quick question regarding the frankin-traben i talked about earlier:

what could be causing a hissing sound while a note is being played. (on all strings and frets so its probably an electric thing) it sounds like a shhhhhhhhhhh. is it fixable?

It does indeed sound like an elctrical problem, but just in case, try pressing down on the string behind the nut then hitting a note.

What about a new battery?

Also it could be a dodgy blend pot, try moving that back and forth a bunch of times, to clear it out. If it improves after this, the blend will just need some contact cleaner.

Hey there all you fellow Traben owners. I found this the other day as I was looking to get my New Chaos Obsession 5 string. Figured I would join up. I have a 4 string array in Blood Red that I have had since May of 08'. I'll throw pics of them both up once I get my new Chaos this next week and get one of the numbers from ya and be a part of the club.

Oh ya happy New Year guys.
