all of the emails ive sent to Traben have gotten short and broad replies. haha

I just picked up a Chaos 5 today... the original one, not the Attack, Limited, Core, or Obsession. I love it :D

no,

if you go to www.trabenbass.com

and click "basses"

its the very first one in the chaos collection...

but i think im gonna trade it back in and invest in a Phoenix 5, because ive heard a lot more good things about that bass...

If you were me would you stick with the Chaos or switch to the Phoenix?

I'm still not positive on what im going to do
Ah the new Chaos.

The "original" Chaos was near identical to the Phoenix, only difference is the Chaos didn't have the inlays, but abalone dots. The neck might have been slightly different in profile too.

In this situation, I would, if possible, bring the Chaos you bought down to the shop, and play it and a Phoenix, through the same amp for a while, one as close to your own amp as possible. And bring home the one I prefer.;)

The thing is, the main reason you haven't heard much good about the Chaos is, its a new model, just out this year, where as the Phoenix has been around much longer.

I have a neckthrough with a very similar setup to the Phoenix, and its my fave bass, but I dunno what you need, if ya get me.

Stick with the Chaos then, if you like it, remember no matter how many other people say the Phoenix is good, it might not be good to you, if your happy with the Chaos, just don't worry about it. :)

another thing... This is my first 5 string and i know like nothing about 5 strings. Is the standard tuning?

EADGB?

is the only difference being the 5th string is B?

Also... the 1st and 2nd strings rattle a lot... could that be a truss rod issue?

It shoulb be set for a low BEADG(a string lower/deeper than a standard 4), and if theres string rattle, it most likley a setup issue, or if its the B string, they take a little to get used to.

So I think im gonna go after a Phoenix... however, all the stores near me that carry them are often out of stock... and i want to try it out first but i dont know anyone in my area that owns one (Orange County, CA). Guitar Center said I could special order it through them and it would take about 5 weeks for them to get the bass. To anyone who owns this bass:

Is it a great investment?

bad photos, but im loving it so far!
