Cool! I'll have to make a sig now... :D

Time to grab the Array and head for church...I don't play bass there much as I'm usually on Hammond, but it's nice to hold down the bottom once in a while...especially through the church's eight 18's powered by a rack of Crowns. :D She's got fresh Hi-Beams on and she's ready to go...

Hi my response is for darkstrike. You most certainly have heard a fretless P bass all of Framptons songs the live versions at least the bassist had a gorgeous fretless p bass. Keep on rockin

Thank's for the info, but I haven't ever heard any Frampton songs!

But now I'm gonna Youtube his live stuff and take a listen, thanks again!:)

Hi there I have a Traben SLE I find it visually very stunning Orange with maple neck and tribal painting along the neck.. I find this bass a little weak electronically the preamp is a bit fuzzy not very precise. The fretwork on this bass is horendous like a cheese grater. I was trying to get rid of it but nobody wants to pay any serious money for it so I guess it's condemened to share space with my shoes in the closet. I went and tried a fretless version of this bass much better I think they should stick to making fretless basses their pup configuration suits fretless much more than a fretted version................maybe I should pull the frets off mine ...........bah it's not worth the investment since I have a warwick corvette fretless.

I have to say that I lost my love for Traben. At one time I owned seven of them, I thought they were a great bass for the money and I loved the looks. I had since sold all of them, but did just buy a new Bootzilla recently (black one, not the star shape) from Musician's Friend. I think they may have been discontinued as they were being discounted. The electronics had some problems, mainly a crackly volume pot. I took the bass into Mike Lull (more well known around Seattle for his customizing and fixing than for his high end basses) to fix it and when I picked it up he told me he was shocked at how horrible the electronics were put together, and incorrectly at that. The wiring was all wrong, pickups wired incorrectly, looked like an amateur job. Mike thought that I had done it myself as it just looked terrible, he had a hard time believing it came from the factory like that. He rewired the bass correctly and now it works and sounds great.

It just made me wonder about who is putting these things together, and what kind of quality control they have. I'll never buy another Traben again. Considering that mine was actually wired incorrectly in the shop, I cannot believe that it was the only one. Although from all the ones that I had previously, all were fine (as far as I know) other than for one that had a crackly blend pot.

i have heard that the bootzilla line had a large amount of problems within the last couple of months, probably lead to the discontinue of production.

but what about the neo and phoenix customs? were they swept away to make room for the obsessions? why did they keep the bootsy star instead of the bootzilla? why am i asking all these questions?

Traben Array Obsession 4 String. This just came in today, it's amazing. The pictures don't do it justice

I guess this makes me #6?

hey i gotta question for you club members,

which one should i get?

i have a choice between a burnt orange kore 5, a solarburst phoenix 5, a neo limited 5, or a solarburst sun 4.

the kore is $489
the phoenix is $499
the neo is $470 with a gig bag included
the sun is $319

heres the things to take in consideration, i love the burnt orange of the kore (its my favorite color), but for $10 more i can get the sweet inlay of the phoenix and i only kinda like the solarbust on it. the neo has a nice spaltted maple top but i dont like the neo bridge as much as the others. the sun is very cheep and the sun bridge is my favorite.

o btw darkstrike i envy you, nice sun and kore

One thing to remember, the Kore is a neck through, the Phoenix has the inlays, besides that, they are the exact same bass, well the fiver's are anyway.

Do you like a glossy neck, if not the Phoenix is the answer.
Do you need a 5, or do you prefer a 4? The Sun is a similar bass to both as in woods and electronics too. Its a bolt on, with a satin finish.

Me, I'd go for the Kore 5, but thats because I'd like a Traben 5.

sorry i gess i didnt say i was looking for a 5er, but i dont like glossy necks. i forgot to mention there is also an old version of the chaos available in burnt orange. is the neck still glossy on the old chaos modles (with the inferno bridges)?

No, the Chaos is a bolt on as well, so satin finish, and if I remember correctly, also very close to the Phoenix and Kore.

Since you don't like the gloss finish, and do want a five string, the Phoenix or Chaos would be a fine choice. Also if Burnt Orange is your fave finish, you might as well go for the Chaos.

All of this and my other posts are in my opinion, experience, your mileage may vary, etc, etc.

Hi All-
I have been looking at the new Chaos Core 5 strings and am interested in purchasing one. I do have some reservations- I cannot find any dealer near me that has one in stock, so I cannot play before I buy. My concern is that with the Aguilar OBP-3 preamp and the pickups, how much money is actually going into the construction/materials of the bass, considering the price point? I'm not really talking about the factory setup, more about the overall quality of the instrument.
Also, I haven't heard too much about the tonal characteristics of this bass. Can you get an agressive, growl type sound from this bass?
Thanks in advance.

I'm dying to try out the Traben Chaos Obsession 4 string. I'm looking for another fairly inexpensive bass to add to the collection and this one really seems to fit the bill. You can get them all day long for $499 which really isn't bad for what you're getting.

It features a paulonia body w/ ebony top and back, 24-fret double adjustable 34" neck, wenge fretboard, Chaos bridge, T3 3-band active preamp, Rockfield soapbar pickups, scimitar inlay, Grover tuners, mini toggle switch to switch from active to passive, Volume/Bass/Mid/Treble/Blend / satin finish.
