Trace ELF Gig Report

Gonna backline a show with the Elf and and a Neo 1X15 in a club this weekend. I'll be one of 3, maybe 4 Bassists playing the show. The Basses will run from Upright to solid body, and steps in between. I'm very curious to see how the Elf performs!

The Upright Bassist brought his Acoustic Image amp, and it sounded GREAT! The rest of us used the Elf. An early 2 PUP G&L to my Jack Casady. The Elf sounded awesome!

Two gigs last weekend. One with a Psychedelic Folk duo (The Hinges), occasionally quartet (Bass and Drums). Played a '51 PBass CIJ "Blue Flower" reiss, the Elf and Neo 115MK3. Sounded GREAT! No line to a PA, just sound off the stage. Saturday, an outdoor gig with The Psychedelic Shadow Show. I brought the big guns! The Neo 115 and the Neo 112. I still say the Elf likes 4 OHM's much better than 8. I played "Gretschypoo", and I sit on a stool right next to the speakers. Playing a hollow body Bass, I can manipulate sustain by leaning the Bass into to speakers. That was a good gig for that, and the sound guy STILL can't stop raving about how good the DI sounds. I did have my V6 in tow.. It, in it's road case, was used as a makeshift step onto the flatbed trailer stage.. I LOVE my Elf!
On a side note, my son, who also plays Bass has an Elf. He was jamming with some friends (he plays a Warwick Corvette), and the Elf wasn't keeping up. I can't imagine how loud they were. I rarely have my master past 10:00.

So, there should be a Elf 500 in the works that's only an inch or two larger each way, right?
I'd like to try one but it would have more wattage to displace my Little Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0

Last weekend, The Hinges and The Psychedelic Shadow Show. I played my (modified/ butchered) Vox Apollo with 2 Univox PUP's from the late 60's with The Hinges, and Gretschypoo with TPSS. Both Neo cabs, and it was good! I don't think my master went over 9:00, but the preamp was driven just below orange. One cord to amp, no effects.

The last time I used my V6 was as a step (in it's road case) to get on a flat bed stage.

Last night I played an outside gig, with the 115 (8 Ohm) Neo. Big PA backing it up, and my master was at 9:00. I could hear more from the mains than my amp, but I didn't mind, The DI is perfect!

No telling what your definition of carrying a smaller room non rock really needs. I can tell you a GK mb200 has pretty much identical output capabilities and mine into one 15 carries a jazz band rehearsal but for shows not enough.
