trace elliot *715 X Combo*

hi, i was thinking of buying an ashdown amp a while ago, and did some research on them (wikipedia). I found that they have links with trace elliot amps?

Are trace elliot amps (the one im interested in is the 715 X Combo) any good in terms of tone, loudness and to live with? (eg: carry out of my room, down some stairs and into a car), or its it difficult to lug about like my current laney R3.

infomation/advice would be appreciated:)

ps: does anyone have one?

many thanks!

I used to have a Trace Elliot 2X15 combo (well, it was a 1x15 combo with a second trace speaker satellite). The thing was sturdy, beautifully built, and had a solid, even sound. It was perfect -- not too loud, not too quiet. The other thing was that its height allowed you to self-monitor -- it stood a decent four or four and a half feet tall.

I kick myself frequently for ever having let that rig get away from me. It was easy to carry, despite its size, and as I said before -- really, really well-made. Like indestructible.

I am also interested in info on the 715x ...the only knock that I can see from specs online is the weight is over 80lbs. It is a good looking amp. I went to guitar center to check it out but they do not stock it in the store. available online for $1069.00.
a lot of money for sight unseen.:hmm:
