I'm wondering about the difference between the Omega/Badass bridge and the Hipshot Kickass. Please let us know!

As one who has used the Hipshot KA bridge on a number of my builds - it is far superior to any BA-type bridge on the market. They used the original BA as a template and designed a much improved version of it. Original BA bridges saddles required filing your own string-slots, next generation had a series of ridges which got string alignment 'close', and if pre-slotted it either worked or didn't lining up strings over pu poles. The Hipshot has adjustable brass saddles for perfect dialing, the design and casting is cleaner and the string-stop beefier. They sell at a good price-break as well. Can't go wrong if you want that type of bridge.

Pretty much exactly what JIO said above- the Kickass feels amazingly stable and being able to dial in an exact string spacing with such ease seems so unreal. I was going to throw the Omega I took off of this bass onto my 60’s Jazz but now I’m thinking I need a chrome Kickass!

Sounds great. SO great! Decided to mix it up and went with some GHS Boomers— they used to be my go to strings but I haven’t played on them in almost a decade. Really loving the low mid growl !!

Spoke too soon- investigating a strange buzzing on my E string lead me to noticing the tuning key’s bushing on that particular string working itself loose due to playing vibration.
Seeing as how life is too short for loose bushings, and wood glue not being in any short supply, the solution was simple.
My cat could not care less!

Now have both of my Cabronita's up-graded w/ EMG 35JCS pickups. The Red one is actually the newer X series.
I'm really enjoying the expanded frequency range and noiseless operation.

I recently completed a build and all hardware and knobs, even the strings, was black. Except for the control plate. For some reason, a jazz plate in my mind is always chrome. My Escape has all black, except the grill and one piece on the lift gate.

Here are my 2 Squier P Bass Standards from 1999 & 2000. All new Hipshot hardware (black on the brown bass, and nickel on the red one), Bartolini's, custom Pickguardian pick guards, CTS, PIO's, bone nut. Minor fret dressing on each. Truss rods break easy on theses basses, fyi. I love the feel of this era of Squier P Bass 5 necks, and the stock from the factory J bass pickup configurations. I was planning and may still change one bass to 2 MM pickups. They record well too.

After I discovered these basses, I bought 5 of them off Reverb and Ebay, played them all acoustically and kept the 2 that rang the best acoustically and sold the other's. The Red one I got off Reverb and I paid $210 shipped, plus it came with a Fender HS case! The brown one was $185 shipped! Great basses for the money.

Been having fun tricking out this Squier VM 70's Jazz. I got it used pretty cheap and the neck just feels incredible.

So far I've added Tort, EMG JV52's, Rickenbacker knobs, and have some Hipshot HB7 tuners on the way. Strung with flats of course.

Installed some fancy Ulyate Tic Tac Jazz pickups in my 60’s CV today:

Unbelievably great pickups. They have the really tight vintage but hi-fi throaty goodness thing going on.

I have a classic 60 J body and want to put a pearloid pickguard on it, where can I get a quality pickguard for it?

For anyone interested, it is getting a B neck with ResOLites, Thunderbucker pickups, and Gibson spec electronics.

If money’s not an issue, hit up Pickguardian and tell them what you’re looking for. I had them make a fresh black guard for my old ruby red 4003 and it fit gloriously.
Also, you could go the route I did and snag one off of eBay for $6. Mine’s black but I’m sure you could wrangle up a pearloid of decent quality.

Got mine off Ebay. U.S. Seller, very quick shipping. I ordered both a Black Pearl and a Silver Pearl, not knowing which would match my fancy knobs. They came with screws also. PM me for a link if interested.

Tricks: Gotoh GB350 tuners, Lakland Chi-Sonic pickup in the neck. Made a new pickguard to fit the Chi-Sonic and added some fretmarkers (stickers) for that extra tone.

Did some neck swapping to make this ugly duckling. Both are from ‘83, the body is a SQ MIJ Bullet with a mystery single coil and the neck is a JV MIJ from a PJ. She’s not easy on the eyes but played really smooth with a hell of a bark!
