Trucks...

I'll try it as a thumbnail instead. Let me know if it works now.

That is AWESOME!!!!
Thanks. That truck was a jigsaw puzzle I carried home in a box 20 years ago. I traded a running 81 Camaro for it. No engine, transmission, transfer case or interior, and it had little lift and 1/2 ton axles. Somehow I managed to screw it all together the way you see it in a one car garage. 454, one ton axles and 14" of lift.

I went and drove the Blazer today... I'm pretty sure I'll be making an offer on it tomorrow.

Keep us posted.

Missing my truck. Couldn't afford to put it on the road this summer, first year I haven't had it out since I got it together 5 years ago. Haven't decided if my next upgrade will be suspension (5 link, double wishbone, stock ride height) or engine (351 Clevor build, ~500 hp N/A).

Nice trucks... that '52 is amazing!

I've been chatting up trucks with my boss these last couple weeks since I'm still stuck with the 88 Corolla until I pick up the Blazer in another couple weeks (I *really* could have used a truck in the last weeks with the hurricane and nor-easter that blew through here).

He has a 96 4-door, 4wd Tahoe with 30k miles on a new motor he's offered to GIVE me when he picks up his new one in the next 2 months. He's not sure if he wants a new Tahoe or Avalanche but he's planning to make up his mind and buy one before the end of the year.

There are some awesome trucks here! I'd really like to get a 1971 (or earlier!) F-100 in that blue color...you Ford people will know the color I'm thinking of. For now, here is my humble 2000 Dakota:

But the one I miss the most is the '71 Chevy (on a '79 4x4 frame) I stupidly sold. Built 454, TH400, 35's, etc.

Sounds awesome... your current truck sounds like what the guy across from me is driving. I think his is a 2011, he's had it over a year now (traded in his Avalanche for it)

I saw a 71-72 4wd Chevy long bed Thursday afternoon while heading out for lunch. Just a mild lift... but enough for my taste. It was silver with all the CST/Cheyenne body moldings... really sharp.

I was talking with the wife this morning about the potential second, the 2 door is still getting a 2" drop front & back along with some 275/70r16 street type tires. The 4 door will get a 2" lift and some big mud/sand tires :p

Can't believe I missed this thread until now....

My favorite pickup I've owned was a '79 Ford F150 4x4 w/ a 460. Loved that truck and I had to load a couple concrete parking lot stops over the rear axle to keep that thing from spinning the rears anytime you tapped the accelerator. It was such a good truck- got rear ended in that by a guy doing 60mph and it was totaled- frame was bent so bad it wasn't salvageable. This isn't mine (mine had the two tone brown/gold paint), but this is pretty close to the lift:

I currently have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab 4x4 with the 5.7 V8. Not my choice of pickup, but I inherited it when my dad passed and it's been good to me. I have 10 acres, so a pickup is a requirement. When this one dies, there is an F250 or 350 in my future.

If I had the funds to have a spare vehicle, I'd be grabbing a Jeep J-10 or J-20. I've always loved the J-10's, Willy's, etc.

Why would you say no? If you do say no, I'm sure Mike N. will come get it and turn it into a monster truck.

-Mike

Expensive to lift but still a possibility. A body lift is the cheapest way to get 3" of lift, suspension kits are outrageous for those with the independent front end.

If I was going to lift one of those generation trucks to the extreme my Blazer is I'd ditch the independent front end and do a solid axle conversion.

yeah, I found a cheap 2" body lift kit with gap filler... from what I've read, the bumpers can be repositioned without much fuss with it.

tbrannon: I dig the look of those, I drove my father's beater Wagoneer for a while when between cars as a late teen. It had a big V8 and a 4-speed... was generic medium-dark brown.
