I own a 2004 Toyota Tacoma with 85,000 miles on it. Bought it brand new on a whim and have never looked back. It is a part of my whole lifestyle and I put it to use every single day. So far, I have only had to change the brakes, the battery, the tires and the oil.

Right now, because of logistics, my wife takes it to work. There is something awesomely incongruous about a bearded, tattooed dude driving around with a baby in a fancy Audi while a beautiful woman rolls around in a dinged-up, stickered pickup.

78 GMC full sized High Sierra utility body. K15
80 something GMC S15 SUV
95 Nissan Pathfinder

You drive a lot and move households as a truck owner. Last few cars I've owned have been hatchbacks.

Sounds like you're late for a timing belt change. Assuming your engine has a timing belt. Check the manual. Failed timing belts, can destroy an engine.

Thanks, dude... Manual says 90,000 miles, so I've got a little bit of time left. This truck averages less than 5 miles a day now.

I've got lots planned for it... not lifting it though. Still thinking of bringing it down 2", but not sure yet... I'm liking the height.

This one will likely get a 3" body lift though

(this is the 96 4 door my boss is giving me when he buys his new one)

Oh man, "un-grandpa" that ride! Take off the fender flares and those window visors. I'm surprised it doesn't have the giant tow mirrors.

Other than that, I have always liked that body style of Suburban. Is it leather or cloth interior? Front bench? Third row seating?

I thought it was a Suburban at first glance... it's actually a 96 4-door Tahoe. It's got light grey leather with buckets up front. The driver seat's leather is shot and will need to be re-skinned. Can't complain for free

If you're going to lower one or the other, I'd lower the Tahoe. I'd also lose the flares and running boards, add a visor, a cowl induction hood and top it off with a black paint job with tinted windows to match.

Looks like the Tahoe was set up for a tow bar, did the previous owner tow it behind a motorhome?

The Blazer is staying as is height wise... though I will likely uncrank the front a touch before the new tires & alignment. I am going to go with stock 265/75r16 street LTs in place of the mudders it has now.

The Tahoe is a boat hauler / beach truck since new. The tubes where the tow hooks should be are for the rod rack my boss pulled off last week for current deer hunting woods runs

Here's mine:
1986 Chevy C-10 long bed , sbc 350 , turbo 400 , 79,000 miles

I bought it last month for $500. because it was ticking.
I replaced a cracked flex plate ($45.), ticking gone, the thing runs like a watch, even with the Quadrajet.

Yep.... good running truck - $545.
not the prettiest vehicle in the neighborhood but so what, the price was right!

Nice! First truck we looked at was an 86 short bed... white rims & cap. Laterally a Grandpa truck... elderly neighbor passed away and his grandson is selling it (still... he wants about 5x its value).

Quadrajets are great carbs. I've got boxes of them laying around here from all the guys that swapped them out for a Holley instead.

when they work, they're OK.
Many have issues, (been there)

Believe me, I am not going to be swapping mine out as it is working.

Nearly 30 years of running Q-jets and I've never experienced issues with metering rod cams and/or secondary vacuum leaks. Not saying they don't happen, just haven't happened to me. The other two issues are easily repairable.

Paging Mike N!!!! I'm stumped by my first project (haven't ordered my manuals yet and cannot find any reference online)...

For my passenger side bucket seat
This bolt is loose... what does it connect to underneath the seat?

and how do I get this lever off so I can put the latch cover off?

Okay, couldn't figure the lever out because there was no screw holding it on... I gave it a good tug and it came off. Now that the seat back issue is further revealed, both bolts are missing their nuts! Looks like I'm hunting for some tomorrow.
