For some trumpet in Alternative / Metal genres I suggest you check out Pushmonkey. Heck just check out Pushmonkey in general. Great band from Austin Texas.

"Maybe" is probably one of the more prominent songs of the band that features trumpet work by the vocalist.

Guess I could have paid $1 per song from the web, oh well-never mind.

It's full of horns playing, especially in the intros.

Jam Bands are good, they can get very rocky. Do any of these bands have just one trumpet? Multiple trumpets are good, since I could overdub in a studio, but I'm thinking from a live point of view as well. That doesn't mean narrow it down! I'm just wondering. One user noted Squarepusher had a single trumpet.

I've also remembered that a lot of ska punk bands have trumpet, not a big fan of the genre, but I did like the Aquabats. Any Jazz punk bands with trumpet or even sax while we're at it?

Yes, I own quite a lot of Sly and the family stone as well. Another fantastic band! Actually thanks for reminding me, because I think they only have one trumpet and one sax - which is exactly the amount of trumpeters and saxes my proposed band has!

Anything with a horn section, of course (most bands t one point or another). The Townsend stuff was likely ARP if it was just a solo line... but don't hold me to it.

Lesh was originally a trumpet player. You can hear him on Born Cross-eyed.

Anyway, continuing on from this last thread, I'm starting (or attempting to start) a jazzy rock band at my music uni, but I am actually enrolled in jazz trumpet, not bass. I'm going to do bass next year. The point is, since I don't really want to be playing jazz to small crowds for the rest of my life, I want to put my trumpet skills to use.

So does anyone know any rock bands which have used this instrument. Fusion and funk is also good, so if you have any suggestions in that field than give suggestions for that too. A trumpet at the forefront would be quite nice.

I'll be starting another thread about trumpet player which use effects: I am also a guitar player, so I have effects pedals which could make some interesting sounds when combined with the trumpet.

R.E.M. has a song with Trumpet on it from the "Out Of Time" album. Can't remember which....
