Trying to find a good cabinet for TC Electronics BQ500

I haven't actually purchased the amp head yet as I'm still considering the 250w or 500w version to fit both my budget and volume needs.

Get the 500w version, at that price it's a no-brainer.

fwiw I've used my BQ500 with a variety of Eden David-series cabinets and also my Flite Sound 12+15 stack. It certainly punches above its weight class regardless of which cab I've used, but it also definitely prefers a 4 ohm load.

it is the BQ500 and I have used the thrust live, it really adds a nice punch to my tone, but as any other compressor never full on. With passive basses I usually run it around 1 or 2 o'clock with Active 10-11 o'clock works good
it really brings out the dynamic range with nice harmonics and sustain. I really like this amp I have even ran it Di to the FOH with no cabinet load and it worked great

Wow, North Jersey red brick and crabgrass, brings back so many memory's. Age 0-20, Lavallette...I never even tried the 'Thrust' knob on my BQ-500 over here as I have always had a pedal for that. I'm gonna give it a go..

Yes, sustain is there! I will try with same Come Together cover and see if I like it.

Okay took a while I was hunting this video this is the rig in a club. No PA support, a channel went down on the mixer the during sound check on this gig and I pulled myself out of the PA so just the amp and cabinet from the stage

Is that yellow bass a Dean bass with the a yellow fret-board ? Yellow is my favorite color!

By the way, what opinion do you have for the Ampeg SVT 210 200w cabinet?

I actually use a TC BH800 (one of the predecessors to the BQ500 you are looking at) with 2 Ampeg svt210av cabinets for practice in a 5-piece classic rock band every week. It's a terrific combination, and there is a lot of love for the 210s around here; a great sounding rig in a 26-lbs-each-speaker package, and it keeps up with 2 guitars, keyboard and a heavy hitting drummer with no problem.

If you can find a TC BH250 used, it's the little brother to the BH800 (which I had before the BH800), and it had plenty of oomph with the Ampeg 210s for a small gig. Use the XLR out to a PA system for bigger shows if needed.

I also paired these cabinets with a Bugera Veryon head, as mentioned above (I had the BV1001T, tube pre-amp, vs the BV1001M which has a solid state pre-amp), and it sounded good too, but I traded it and the BH250 in on the BH800 I finally settled on. This Veyrons are a 750-ish watt amp (don't believe the "2,000 watt" marketing hype), so you just need to be careful with the volume knob when running something like it into the Ampegs.
