My late dad's 3/4 size double bass has a carved letter B on the back of the headstock under the scroll. There is no label. There are original hat peg tuners, which may be ebony.
The bass was bought used in the 1950s from the band room of a defunct orchestra which was active in the 1920s and 1930s. The bass was restored by a UK luthier in 1990/91. Any ideas?
