Tube amp into Avalon U5 speaker input

Ok, I'm confused.
You stated you were at soundcheck with the "post tube" DI sound.
Then you stated the sound guy preferred the standard DI and you didn't want to ruin his deal because you've been playing that gig forever.
This is where I quoted you, figured maybe next time/different gig
Then you say how great it sounded
Then you say that particular sound guy just runs DI.

Was there more than just one gig here? Because it's stated like you were at a gig, but the guy used DI, but the U5 thingy sounded great, but the guy just used a DI? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I said that the soundguy at that gig runs DI, doesnt mic the cab. I set up my ampeg V4B and 115 cab, and ran a line from the cab > "speaker input" on the avalon u5, and then came out of the avalon into the PA. So the avalon was my DI. This way my post tube signal was sent to the PA.

Ahhh! Ok. I see, when you mentioned that guy preferred a DI, I thought you meant a standard right out of the bass DI, like no funny business Avalon U5 signal. Thanks for explaining.

Cool, glad it worked out for ya. I think options like that and mic on cab are so much better. I could never understand the whole right after the bass DI, when your rig is so much a part of your sound. I know it's been argued to death, but that's my opinion. It's why I designed my amps with the DI output after the preamp, I want all the tube tone goodness in there.
