Tube DI

Do you have a preference on any Bass tube DI's? I currently have an SVT preamp/DI that I use for live gigs. I might be looking for something else. Any recommendations?

SVT DI is badass. Either that or a Reddi or Evil Twin. You're already set tho.

Thanks. I was just making sure it wasn't a glorified direct out from one of their amps. Would you say it's similar to the GT Brick DI?

U5’s are like basically everything else Avalon: super clean. I, for one, strongly prefer something that adds a little character.

Can't go wrong with the Ampeg SVTDI. A mainstay for me until I found the glory that is the A Designs REDDI.

I have a Aguilar DB900, that I'm currently enjoying.

Does anyone know what kind of tube goes with the SVT DI? I think it's a 12AX7 but I'm not 100% on that.

12AU7. BTW, it's being made again, though not by Ampeg, but by Obeid Khan, the former Ampeg engineer at SLM who invented it in the first place:

I still like the REDDI better but the SVT-DI has a sound, no doubt.

Were they always that much money? I thought the Ampeg version was more like $400 rather than $600. I could be mistaken though.
