Tube Rectified bass head.

I have a blonde Bassman that is tube rectified. It is a good sounding low volume bass amp, and a killer guitar amp.

You might also look at some of the old Altec Lansing power amps, like the 1569A. It is built like a tank, has dual tubes for rectification and uses 4 EL34's for output. I have two and they make good bass amps, but to be honest they made great bass amps when I converted to SS rectification and added more capacitance. This eliminated the weak transient response on the first 5 frets of the E string. And after the conversion they put out an honest 100 watts RMS.

Some of my Sunns have a tube rec still. One of my 2000s and my 200s have GZ34/5AR4s in them, the 2000s having a pair of original Mullards. The other 2000s is SS rectified in the chassis, and the 1200s has a SS rec. in the tube socket. Personally I don't think there's much of a difference in sound between the Tube and SS rectified versions, except the SS ones definitely have more headroom and don't break up as early.

The Sunn 2000S will be hard to find with the tube rec still in place. Most blew up the power transformers when the rectifiers failed and were converted under warranty. Many older Fender products can be found with tube recs.

Not really, I've seen a fair number with their tube recs still. That's also the first I've ever heard of failing tube recs blowing the power transformer in Sunns, Conrad never mentioned that when he was servicing my 2000s. Hopefully that doesn't happen to mine.

I was asking for models that used tube rectifiers. Not trying to debate ss vs tube. But I should have known it would go there.
I don't care if u like ss over tube.
I LIKE TUBE rectified bass amps. And that is all that matters because I am the one playing them and buying them.unlike most I don't care if soneone else likes or dislikes it. They work for my Tone.

So please no pointless debate here
Just model names.

I think you vastly overestimate the effect of a tube RECTIFIER in an amp. Almost every tube bass amp made has not had a tube rectifier in it because tube rectifiers can't handle much power. The reason some guitar amps still use them is that they are mostly under 100w. The SVT, most Bassmans, Mesa Boogie, etc. do not have tube rectifiers in them.

My god......I'm done
I play lower wattage all tube bass heads for the overdrive tones I can get out of them.
50 watts is enuff for what I need them for.

I was just looking for more bass amps in this nice 50watt range. It seems I have played all of the tube rectified bass heads out there since no one could help with amy more info on them. Other than "they suck ss is the way to go".....

1950s Allen B50w
SUNN 200S
SUNN 2000S
Traynor YBA1 "with tube rectifier"
Original Fender bassman.

I gess that's about all of them.

You really aren't hearing what anyone is saying. No one said tube amps suck. They are raved about on here for a reason. We are saying that really old heads with a rectifier in them normally aren't in very good condition, and that they don't use rectifiers anymore for a reason. There are a ton of tube amps out there without rectifiers, in fact almost all of them are and I guarantee that the difference can't be that distinguishable. We're just trying to save you money and trouble.
