Twelve String Club - 12 String Octave - Post em'

My 60th birthday Gift, and new friend:)
Schecter Stargazer 12 bass.

*additional blissful info* 9 lbs !

The electronics are flexible and pretty quiet.
When string change time comes, will copper shield and provide gut shots.

Getting technique back together, it’s been a decade since I last had a 12.

I LOVE the RIC ish looks, and it balances very well on a strap.

Fretwork, fit, finish are great. Nut height spot on and the trussrod handles adjustment well.

The tuners are a little stiff on the octaves and overall the weakest point of the bass thus far.
Sound clips? I wonder how this compares with the dug 12?

I keep meaning to record a clip, but with the Holidays, now the LA fires ( family in threatened areas), 3 builds to complete, and prepping for an upcoming Cliff Burton Day performance with Trauma.. I’ve been over occupied. Will try to put something down, and post it soon.

I don't have any 12ers here at the house, they're in storage, but here's my Cataldo G8R:

Thank you for sharing.
I'm ecstatic to see Tom Petersson actually using one of my builds on stage for an entire concert!

But on the other hand completely gutted about that second bass being lost.
They were shipped on the same day. The black bass arrived at Tom's address in 4 days. But the delivery of other kept being postponed for week. And now UPS has asked me to file a claim for investigation. Because they can't find it anymore...

Here's a few pics of the lost bass.

Plus a demo video that I made two days before I shipped it:

Not nearly as well played or recorded, here's some noodling I did a while back on my BEAD 3-octave-per-course tuning:

Well I got my "3 octaves per course" BEAD tuned 12er out and set up again - needed a .030 hi C string from a 6 string bass set for the 2nd octave B string., all tuned to pitch even.

But yeah, the top octave is pretty shrill and tends to overwhelm the lower octaves in the mix. Still, might be musically useful in the right context, maybe with some EQ to bring up the bass....

Samples when I can.. I guess I'd dub the experiment "successful, but..." (of limited use). Still, a fun little side track to run down...
