Two distortions are better than one !?!

I've posted this elsewhere on TB but I have my board set up to have a low gain always on drive running into the LBA2020s units and a compressor in an always on loop on the Basswitch.
The Basswitch has a clean boost which helps drive the 2020s units. Post the Basswitch I have an AOmicron which set lower gain and stacked sounds great. I'm very happy with this set up and it's perfect for my gain needs.The AOmicron can get very dirty on its own but stacking at lower gain is fun.

yes ... some passive mixers can act like passive basses where the tone changes when you roll off the volume. The Rolls mixers don't seem to do that but still I like them wide open. An active mixer wide open could distort. The problem with passive mixers wide open is some pedals will feed back or squeal ...

Klons are amazing on baſs. Try uſing it as a dirtyiſh "clean booſt" after a SansAmp Baſs Driver DI. It's an amazing little ſecret I diſcovered—it ſeemingly amplifies þe tube-like feel of þe entire device, making it feel more like a real amp. I'm really in love wiþ my current pedal combo, BOSS baſs equalizer into SansAmp BDDI into klon into BOSS BB-1x into MXR 10 band into a paſſive DI box! It has loads of compreſſion þat feels VERY good & natural. & it's not overly diſtorted at all. You can dial in lots of neat tones uſing þe pre & poſt gain EQs.

I was before I got the Albatross. But now I use the Jellyfish after the Equator/Albatross/CE-2W loop in the Dirtfixer as a finisher/enhancer. But as you can see the Jellyfish still isn't totally clean. I used to always stack overdrives, and to a much greater degree before I found that pedal. Gasoline/JohnK Centurion, Gasoline/VMT, Gasoline/tech21 Oxford, B3K/VMT(a classic), Alpha Omega/Tech21 Oxford, Tech21 Oxford/Tech21 YYZ.... i could go on for days.

I use 3 distortion pedals at once, or rarther 2 distortion pedals and a fuzz, plus an overdive after.

So to be specific my basic "clean" tone is actually overdriven by a Tech 21 Oxford, preamp pedal, that I have blended with dry signal, at an about 2:1 drive/dry ratio, this goes after my high gain distortion setup, which consist of an EHX Tri Parallel Mixer, with a Mosky Black Rat (RAT clone, in Turbo RAT mode) in channel/loop 1, a Boss MT-2 Metal Zone in channel/loop 2, and a Behringer FZ300 Superfuzz in channel/loop 3, all blended parallely in about equal measures with dry signal.

This gives me a monsterouly ballsy and heavy distortion, that however still retains a surprisingly amount of attack and definition, thanks to the dry blend, which does sound like it sits on top of the distortion, but blends in perfectly, thanks to the fact that is is overdriven.

A case of the sum being greater than the individual parts, and gives me the oppotunity to switch between combinations of drive tones.

Sounds glorious!

Parallel drives is where it is at!
