Two Spectors or Spector and StingRay

Hey All!

I just wanted to run my thoughts through this great forum of people and hear your feedback.
Last year I have paired my StingRay 5 with Spector Euro CST 5. To my surprise I enjoy playing Spector way more than StingRay. I play it 90% of the time.
Tone wise it is just pure bliss to my ears. Don't get me wrong I love my StingRay but... I wondered if it would not be better idea to get another Spector instead!
I won't keep StingRay if I get another Spector. Two electric basses, acoustic bass and ukulele bass is enough for a hobby playing.
I thought of getting used Euro RST 5 as I can get it traded for my StingRay. In some time I might replace pickups to EMGs and preamp lo LHZ.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance for all the feedback!

Why not trade them both and get yourself a USA Spector 5.

There's your answer. Seems like you know what you like.

I would get a Spector over a Stingray because I feel like there are more tonal options with the Spector.

Stingray 5 has plenty of tonal options but OP obviously prefers Spectors: hence his 90% comment

Since getting USA Spector seems too much trouble for him and OP prefers to have 2 basses another Spector but different seems his best choice not based on 'tonsl options' but personal taste, tone perception

Personally I like to have basses with different flavors, so I’d go Spector + SR. But if you’re really not playing the Ray, maybe go Spector + P or J? If you went that route, you would have a nice passive tone option, in addition to the very active tone of the Spector

Difficult to even find USA Spector to be sent to Poland :)

I realised that Spector is my thing. I had a P and I had a jazz. Prefer Spector and Stingray. I am talking about comfort, sound, feel and simply how it makes me feel. Having Stingray just hanging there would make no sense to me.

In your position. I would stick closely to Spector and go somewhere cheaper if I still want the Stingray (Bridge MM) sound in the stable.
Something like, Spector, different Spector and Schecter Reaper or Sterling Ray.

Funny enough, in SA it is can be worth getting things shipped from US or Europe. Availability is very poor and retailers sometimes charge more than I would pay for shipping and tax even if they do have something I'm looking for.

I don't know a lot about the Spectors other than I love Mike Inez and Eddie Jackson. But my line of reasoning for new gear is usually "What role can it fill that I can't fill with what I've already got?" I would say having a Spector and a Stingray makes a lot more sense (to me) than having 2 Spectors, in terms of adding capability to your stable. But in the end, it's what makes you play that counts. If you just won't play the 'Ray, why keep it from someone who will?

I do not need Stingray sound necessarily. I am happy to stick to Spector only. If I would be able to trade Stingray and Spector Euro for USA one I would be first in line!

That is my thought process exactly!
