Two-step Verification?

Can anyone explain this new requirement to log in? It is really annoying to have to wait for a code to come via email. I know I can "trust" a device for 30 days, but even that seems burdensome for a site with no real jeopardy to participation.

Nothing I do on here is confidential.

What has happened? Seems like a solution in search of a problem.

How long are you waiting for an email? It should be instantaneous. Perhaps your internet connection is slow? I'm just thinking out loud here. :)

I'm all for cyber security and am fully aware that two step authentication is becoming a norm, but since there are no CC numbers kept in TB I'm curious as well as to why this has been adopted by TB.

Yup. I need to verify every time I visit the site. Can't do it at work or on my mobile.

Usually doesn't work the first 2 or 3 times. Here's my email box when I want to make a comment on TB these days....

On the TB page that asks for the user verification code, there should be an option to check-mark a box that says "keep this device valid for 30 days" right below the text box that you enter the verification code. Check that and you shouldn't be bothered as much.

As for completely de-activating the two-step verification, I've yet to hear back about how to complete.

Hope this helps.

Wait... The site turned on or required you to use two step verification?????? It should be totally optional. Opt-in, as they say...

Please confirm

Yes. One night there was a message on the top page of TB saying that there where to be software updates overnight, so expect glitches if you where on TB during this update. The next day when I went to log on to TB it sent me to the two-step verification page to complete the two step verification process. This has been my experience so far.

The login page sent you to two-step verification? Or did you click the link in the message at the top of the screen?

I'm having the same issues, but only on my iPad and iPhone. Not my PC, yet (but it may be because I clicked the 30 day thing). Just about every time I try to log in on an iOS device I have to do the 2 step verification. I was just going to start a thread about it, but see I'm not alone.

I checked and didn't see any other options aside from the alternate verification method which seemed like even more of a hassle. I tried clicking the 30 day thing, not clicking it..... I have to do the verification just about every day no matter what.

Help?

I'd suggest you simply don't use two-step verification. Turn it off:
