So 86 was the first year for the Dynabass. Thats pretty much as I remember. I bought my Foundation S new in 86 and a couple months later I remember seeing the 1st Dynabass in the shop. I was honestly ticked! LOL

3rd check , no Dynabasses listed in the May 85 pricelist. Must have been announced tail end of the year.
My 4 string Dyna has a 85 serial number (0224xxxx). Probably production for the 86 release.
Seems I have Super Ferrite Dynas from the very beginning and very end of their run!

Quite possibly announced at the July NAMM show--was the july show a thing then? Usually a 2-3 month lag from NAMM show announcement to store presence.
Summer NAMM Chicago in June the years I went but that was late 70's to early 80's.

Honestly the disc type one this one came with pulled the strings way too low for my liking, the Peavey one gives the d and g a much more reasonable break angle. There’s some Peavey DNA in a lot of the guitars around here lol
Wait, how many spare triangle string trees do you guys have?
The only one with triangle tree is my '87 Hog Patriot, it also has speed knobs and the Peavey logo neckplate...that one came with all the fancy goodies.
My other five Peaveys have the bar string tree that holds down three strings and takes two screws to mount.
I like the bar holding down three strings while being so simple (as compared to the Hipshot three string tree for instance) but so effective.
Three of my Peaveys have the heavy but cool Peavey logo neck-back plate.
I have a second pair of speed knobs in my knob drawer, they're off the Gen 2 Fury that has EMG GZR pickup/pots in it now.
I have no Peaveys with the metal Peavey lightning bolt knobs, I think they came stock on my Gen 1 Fury but that was already very non stock when I got it from Mech.

This one i had gotten with a set of peavey clover tuners off reverb, and I think I might have one other stashed away from the busted gen 1 fury neck I replaced with a foundation neck.
Both my gen 1 fury's and my t-40 have the lightning p knobs, as well as my Milestone guitar. I'd love to put them on other stuff but I'm not tied to the look at all, and the prices arent worth it for me.
I'm starting to look at lighter weight knobs when I have to put knobs on, unless it's something like a '54 Precision Bass re-issue or '72 Tele Bass re-issue that would just look really wrong with different looking parts on it.
For some reason I'm less picky about changing Peavey hardware parts away from stock.
I guess that's because Peavey did not keep the exact same looking hardware parts on a particular model for decade after decade after decade.
@58kites those itty bitty bits are going to be harder and harder to come by, that is why I went full resto-mod on the black Unity LTD because I knew that original parts were not to be found. I'm very happy with the result cuz the bass looks bad a$$. IMHO

Snagged this for a song today. Bad relay (common?) that is keeping the Ultra channel from working properly. Been looking for one of these for awhile.
Yeah, the prices for a set of lightning knobs, Peavey neck-plate, triangle string tree and all the T40/45 parts are expensive on Ebay these days.
My Furys are all pretty simple basses that will never be coveted and worth much at all, things like your Unity LTD, TL5's, RJIV's, Koa Unitys, GV's, B Quads, fancy Millenniums, Cirrus and stuff like that are better candidates for making sure they are stock and pristine.
My only all stock Peavey at this point is my Patriot and even on that I changed the bridge and tuners from Peavey chrome to Peavey black.
I bought up a few guitar and bass triangles back in the day when they were consistently well under $15 each shipped. Same with P knobs--if they could be snagged for at or under $15 each, I grabbed them. Yes, my 1986 Dynabass has a Kahler so it might have been one the early ones.It would if I'd been correct
Doubled checked, Dynabass and Dynabass with Kahler were both 1985

The Kahler is mentioned as an option in this instruction manual dated 1985.
My spares pile is down to a T40 pickup that will go into a Foundation after we fill a couple (empty) SF pickup holes and glue a veneer top on it.
A set of four chrome Titan tuners, a couple more Titan tuners, a pair of speed knobs, a standard (non fancy) neck plate and screws, a truss rod cover plate, a couple G Bass knobs, a standard Peavey bent metal bridge, a set of saddles from a trapezoidal bridge, two or three Gen 3 Fury pickguards, a black Gen 1 Fury pickguard.
I think that's all of it.
Also while I don't think they were Kahlers, there was a Washburn Bantam model that offered a tremolo, can't remember the model #.
Kahler talk makes me think of a video of Charles Fletcher with some music school students...
They were playing Little Wing. The guitarist froze up. Yup, Charles (with a Kahler) played the instrumental (on bass). I'd bet 90% of people did not notice.
