Drool! I have Dr Cheese's purple Forum 5, and a purple/pink/silver/blue G-V/Millenium hybrid. That purple TL-FIVE is positively beastly.


I agree, certainly in my top three Peaveys. In no particular order:

TL-FIVE, either generation.
G-V, even better with Milly pre.
Cirrus five

I agree...that Purple TL is killer! I was jus thinking the other day how Id like to get another maple Cirrus and have it refinished in purple :drool:

Never met Chip but I'll bet he was a great guy! Does anyone know why the battery in a bass, Cirrus in perticular, would drain in two to three hours? There's a USA Cirrus on Reverb I'm thinking about buying. The seller says the battery drains in two to three hours and to fix it the pre will have to be replaced. Is that the case?

A couple years back my Millennium started eating batteries and it turned out to be the input jack was shorting out. Easily fixed.

The couple times I had instruments that started eating batteries, it was the jack shorting out. Once internally, the other time the hot was shorting out to the copper shielding in the cavity. Both easy fixes.

The revelations in these threads are similar to the ones in the SF thread, and, it looks like the construction of the single coil SFs from the Foundation/Patriot are almost identical in terms of construction and bobbin size/shape to the two coils found in a T40 pickup. Looks like the T40s even have the same exposed steel angle piece for the leads in the epoxy. Fascinating.

Thanks @kodiakblair for digging these back up for us!

You're totally welcome. Those 2 Sunburst GV were stunning.

Funny (after seeing your thumb bar and stickers etc). I never played them as they were too pristine. My gig gear is rashed, crashed and epoxied together.

Ironic factoid... if memory serves correctly that GV came from the Louisville Music Go Round.. it had never been played before I picked it up.

Was totally cool to meet you on the phone.

Yep.

Use a TRS cable. Plug one end into your jack. Use an ohmmeter to test for continuity on the ring and sleeve of the other end.
