That is my favorite neck size/shape.
If I was going to buy a Fender bass... that is the neck I want, wide nut width and a shallow neck front to back.
I have a Patriot neck here that is the wide/shallow shape, it's great.
My Yamaha Attitude necks are that shape, they feel so good.
You have all the cool basses.
Well, not fully Peavey related, but I just procured a 1983 Fender Gold Elite I Precision. It has that killer 1.75" nut width, shallow depth neck we all love. It's 8.4#, black, bird's-eye maple/rosewood and the gold hardware is perfect, including having all the fine tuners, original knobs and original case. Neck is perfectly straight and the frets are in 95% condition. It even had a nice set up and flats, which is exactly how I would have used it.
Pics to follow, but I'm going on vacation for a week and a half. Y'all be patient.
It wasn't my first choice in an Elite (I would rather have a candy green or emerald Elite II with chrome hardware) but this one was a steal. Took a chance and it turned out way better than expected. I was looking for an out, a semi-shallow reason to ditch it, but no.
Pretty sure my mongrel parts Squier CV P will hit the chopping block. I proudly held on to it, as a better P wasn't found for any price. I might have to shed a Peavey or two, too. Probably the pearl white Foundation body with the T20 neck and maybe the Dyna 5. Gotta be fiscally reasonable with this Elite purchase.
It's the clarity, even at the super output, that makes me think this might work. I play a decent amount of doom...so I don't think I'd hate having something that hot by the neck. My thought is, a Gibson mudbucker is kind of hot...but muddy...what would an MFD sound like in the same position...especially with some heavy tube overdrive and fuzz. I'm running a dual clean/filthy rig too so I think the low-end would be massive. I don't know...I'm on the fence.
@58kites...I def. want to use the two MFDs I have...I think the MFD in the Ric position closest to the bridge makes a lot of sense...I wonder if I place one above it maybe a little farther away from the neck heel...like Lee Sklar's neck P pickup on his studio dual P? Or both close together like a Warwick $$ or like Jeff Matz did with his dual Thunderbird bucker Dunable. So many choices...

Nice rig! Since I first saw an 1820 back in the 80's I intended on eventually getting one, but somehow waited too long, at 60yrs I am just not up to it ; ). I think every twenty some odd years old bassist should buy about twenty of those cabs, while they are young, and have the chance, only so many to go around!
@Pontiac Thrasher Loll..I totally agree with you..i'm 72 now and the Peavey rig sits in the spare room..all my lightweight Rumble stuff has replaced it but I do love the sound that Peavey rig puts out..the beautiful MKIV head..122lbs in weight for the cab..i'd be lucky to get it anywhere near my station wagon now let alone lift it into the car loll

The last generation Dyna 5 is one of the most underappreciated basses out there. I had one for a while and loved the tone. It sounds very much like a Palaedium in passive mode.
The USA Cirrus remains my favorite Peavey 5 string bass but the last Dyna 5's are my second favorites. I also had a Forum AX 5 and it was an absolute monster of a bass but weighed about 12 pounds. The tone of that one was fantastic and it was a beautiful bass. Too bad it was so heavy, but that tone..............
That is it. It showed up on Guitar Center's used ads one Sunday morning. I miss it but....I have so many basses it is not practical to keep them all.
Yeah..I still have 7 basses sitting on my rack..Mrs Giffro said to me..any more basses you buy and you'll be hanging on the rack...point taken lolll
Yeah, I understand that. I am alone so I chide myself about having so many electric basses when I play upright on 95% of my gigs.
I had my collection recently down to 7 but now I am back up to 12 electric basses and that includes 4 Roscoe, 1 G.Gould, 1 Modulus and a USA G&L Kiloton 5. I am down to one Peavey and that is my passive Forum P/J bass and that is one of the best sounding basses I have ever played. I paid $100 for it and a Peavey guitar amp off Craigslist. That was the best score ever for me.
I could easily get by with fewer electric basses but really do enjoy them. If I get tired of playing one I simply go to my collection and get one I have not played in a while and it is like getting a new bass. LOL We are sick, aren't we?

I'm with you...one day when the wife is asleep and if I see a Peavey Cirrus here in Australia for sale..i'll grab it and put up with the wifely sidelong glances and grouchiness till she settles down..at least i'll have my prize lol..ive wanted one ever since I saw one of my bass heroes playing one on a blu ray concert I have..Mike Porcaro (RIP) from Toto...
