Standard Patriots had Titans.. they later went to commodity Cloverleaf Fender styles.... this was not a special order... tuners and pickup are an indication of the era/generation....

There were some models for a while offered as a "plus" this typically meant a painted headstock to match the body.

P/J were commonly called "S" model.. this was just an option - not special order... it's rumored that this was either "schaller" or "stereo---even though it wasn't a stereo output)

Patriot necks... it's possible that something else (like some fury "may" work).. PM me, it's possible to straighten your neck.

Had a couple of those Patriot Customs (although nowhere on the bass did it say 'custom'), a red one and a white one, circa '86. Both had matching color stocks, Titan tuners, all black hardware, and jazz profile necks with rosewood boards.

My '84 'standard' Patriot came with the same clover tuners as found on early Foundations, etc. (Schaller?)

Same here, my red one I have as my avatar matches all that, serial # dates it an '87. Mine has a pickup ring, not sure if that was something that fluctuated within the 'custom' model, as I've seen other standard patriots from the same time period without the ring.

REQUESTED PERMISSION - Post a Bass Pix

As a personal rule, I don't post about the Peaveys I currently own. Biggest reason is it's kind of blow-hard when I'm already overly active in this Peavey Club. My other apprehension is that I like to suggest the solution requested

Long story short... I put everyone's volunteer projects on hold that I'm doing for them.

Got home from a gig at 2:00 a.m. Saturday (Friday Night Gig) then spent the next 6 hours assembling a gift bass from you guys.

For the last 3 years I've been scouring for parts and receiving generous donations from the hardcore guys in this "club"

I'm not a common 4 string player... I do have reason to believe that this could be the single coolest Peavey Built --- it's all because of the help and generosity of you folks.

Started 2-3 years back with Peter... has included Geoff, Tom, Jim, Dan and more --- I won't post screen names as it isn't right in this instance


Is it OK to break my rule and post one?

Thank you....

I've gotten to know a few TBers -- periodically folks will send a much appreciated gift.

In any given day, I'll receive 20-60 notes wanting to banter Peavey USA, IEM or Church Sound... The Peavey guys always seem to be the most gracious.

A few years back a Tber asked which one I'd aways wanted... (we wer talking the semi-custom/special orders the factory used to do).

I'd commmented that there was a short lived run of painted neck Fury... very few are pristine... as far as I knew none were ever shipped all stealth.... biggest hold up were the tuners.

Within a month or so, Peter had located the neck on a trashed body..... I choked and bought it.. later someone else sent a link to the body... Peter had a redo project and sent the bridge... Geoff located the also freak late lined contour case...

It then sat for about a year....

A TBer heard wind of it and sent the black knobs off his bass... another one sent the tapewounds..... then someone else found the fasteners.... another peavey freak donated the non-peavey pickups...

A Tom then special ordered the trilam pickguard

The hold up was tuners... A Tber wanted a set of factory ones.. I basically told him that if we could identify a DIRECT (no drilling/modification) set that would install directly to the neck that I'd get him my chrome ones.

The intent was a BEAD tape almost subharmonic Thud machine with long sustain --- finally got a chance to assemble and try it.

You guys may chuckle as a hard core fender guy was the first to touch it - he has some very expensive stuff and is dedicated enough to have a rear window decal -- we may have him piqued on a Fury

The neck on my Fury is amazing.
I have arthritis. I can play my
Fury much longer than any other
bass.

I found a pup made by G&B, a
company that makes a lot of EMG
pups.

It sounds and looks even better
now,
