Did this ever belong to one of you guys? I picked it up at a music-go-round in pennsylvania, with an older seymour duncan basslines pickup already in it and a really beat up hardcase which I'm currently in the process of fixing

Not me but I have one just like it. Yours seems in great condition despite the case. Mine has a bunch of chips and nicely yellowed finish but a great player with the original pup. Enjoy it.
Does anyone know off hand what value pots to use for a Patriot bass? I need to replace mine, and would like to get them ordered. I could pull mine apart to look, but I'd like to have the parts in hand before I take it apart if possible. I'm assuming 250k, just want to make sure

From memory you want 2 x 250k audio + 0.022uF cap, might be a 0.001uF on the Vol pot

Thanks. From looking at the pots/knobs I have, these would be fine spline correct? I'd like to reuse the original knobs if I can.

When I redid my Patriot with the extra pickup (RicRiot), I switched out the tone pot with a 500KA audio and .047uF cap to get more range out of the control. The 500K tone pot gives a little more sweep/air to the high end, yet you can roll it back to 7 and it sounds just like a stock 250KA tone pot. The larger cap gives a little more cut into the mids and a darker tone when rolled back lower than 3 or so. It's become my usual thing, 500KA tone pots, regardless of the pickups.
My 80s Foundations had 250KA audio taper volumes, but when I had the 93 Foundy, it had the 250KB Linear taper volumes. The Linear volumes allow a little finer blending from a slightly wider usable range on the top end of the pot.

What are you all using to adjust the truss rod nut on your Foundations? It appears to be 5/16". My standard socket set can't get the angle right.

If you have an earlier 80's Foundation, that Amazon-Gibson wrench won't go deep enough into the access port to reach the 5/16" nut. You'll either have to source a wrench with a longer barrel (good luck with that) or make one yourself from a small, thin walled 5/16" socket. Careful not to crack the fretboard end with a DIY-made socket. Might wanna remove a couple tuners first to come in at a shallow angle? Enjoy!

You must get yourself an early Foundation so you can fully enjoy some of the idiosyncracies of Peavey's design choices of the era!
If you do a little filing, any typical 5/16" Gibson style wrench will reach just fine. Just file the edge of the cavity closest to the nut. Doesn't take much, and the truss rod cover will hide the work. Here's my 85 Patriot neck that needed a touch of filing. i also put a new hole for the truss rod cover to move it closer to the fingerboard as well as center the cover better.
I also use this time to clean out any residual glue blobs/wood shavings out of the cavity (especially any around the truss rod and truss rod nut), add a thin washer under the nut (not only gives more range for tightening, but also helps the nut stick out further and get more purchase from the wrench), and lightly lube the threads of the rod with a really small dab of vaseline or lithium grease.
