I paid 200 for a Fury that was completely unusable because I felt sorry for the seller. The bridge had been moved and attached crooked (I don't know why), too much relief in the neck, truss rod maxed, etc. etc. I took the neck off a fury I bought with a bad respray, replaced the pickups, moved the bridge back and filled the holes, etc. So I used at least some of the parts, I guess. And I enjoyed the work. I have definitely seen people spend their time on less worthwhile things.

Incidentally, way back in the dim and distant past, when dinosaurs ruled the earth and I was a repair tech for a music store, we had a Peavey T-40 in stock, which played nicely and sounded great, but the weight was ridiculous. They got in a Patriot bass, which I probably would have bought if it had been left-handed. This Milestone IV was a serious disappointment.

Yep, the import Peaveys are hit and miss. The entry level ones (like the Milestone) are often not found in too good of shape after 2.5 decades of existence. I'm a little surprised you took on that mess... A severly bowed neck, numerous stripped screw heads, etc... is big, neon sign saying "steer clear."

As mentioned, this thread focuses on the US made Peaveys...

We find that even though the US made Peaveys are built pretty darn well, many of them were mistreated because they were perceived as 'bargain' basses when they were new. Therefore, they often didn't get the proper care and attention needed to keep them at their best. Where someone would have taken their new $600 1983 Jazz Bass to a shop to get a proper set up, that same someone may have decided to take matters into their own hands with their new $300 1983 Foundation.
Someone before you decided to really take some liberties with that Milestone, and that someone had no idea what they were doing.

Hard to say. Maybe post an ad in the wanted section and watch the classifieds. Keep an eye on Reverb and GC used gear listings. Might be easier to find a used Cirrus 6 but of course that will cost more. Sorry that's all I got. Good luck on your quest and remember to post a NBD pic when you score your treasure. :)

Yeah, I've only seen one, ever, for sale, so probably not a super easy acquisition but you never know. Just keep an eye out! I've probably seen more 6-string TL's though, but not lately. I played a 6-string Grind that was phenomenal, but I think it was closer to being an Ibanez than a Peavey, if you know what I mean. Did they make an import 6-string Cirrus?

Good point about the TL's and I have no knowledge of an import Cirrus 6.

Happy to have just scored this sweet bass…it was posted on the website of my favorite local shop. I saw it around 10:30am on Friday morning; it was in my truck slightly before 2pm. :D

Cirrus Custom Shop 5…haven’t seen any with wenge tops in person until this one, and it’s :drool:. OEM case complete with original catalog, hex wrenches, all in very good+ condition. Both of my current 5s are now US Peaveys…this one joins a Millennium V Plus.

Anyone have a clue as to when it might have been made? The Peavey serial number lookup simply says “your instrument was manufactured after 1995” for both my US basses…not particularly helpful.

Wow! That was quick!
Several years ago, when searching for a Peavey 5er to leave at the practice space, the Axcelerator 5 was on the short list. However, it had to be black.
Wouldn't you know it, one never popped up for sale, and I was watching for about 3 months. Plenty of 4s, never saw a 6.

When I found out Peavey made an Axcelerator 6 I knew I had to have one to go with my Cirrus 6 and TL-6.
