I'm not having the best of luck on the fury front... Think I'm going to throw in the towel for now. The heavy relic (good condition just normal cosmetic wear LOL see next post) 1993 that nobody bid on for $99.99 got relisted despite my message sent about being local and wanting to check it out (it is a pawnshop), the $200 92 ad got deleted, sold most likely, and I'm not bothering with the one missing the tuner anymore. (Think I over talked my way out of an offer for parts and lowballed the seller about $20 too much)

Hopefully that just means it wasn't meant to be and the timing will be right next time a deal like the $125 pinstripe with case pops up. I can't expect to repeat a deal as good as my foundation, though that would be nice.

On another note, searching the bay caused me to send a message to a seller selling a vintage 1978 Korean milestone II interational series for the bargain price of $175 :rollno:o_O. Gotta love them 1978's that look just like the 1998's. My guess is the serial number started with 78, guess mine is a 1970!:hyper:

A pawn shops idea of normal cosmetic wear on a 1993 fury in good condition. Gotta love eBay... It's like Craigslist, but with more fees rules and regulations, and eats more of your data plan.

I want to offer $80 for it, but I'm not sure it is worth even that much, plus it got relisted automatically... Nobody bid at $99.99

Normal cosmetic wear in someone's universe. I kindof want it actually. Too bad about the knobs and pickguard, but the fender corona shop and ensenada factory would be hard pressed to do as good of a heavy relic job, despite the obvious non nitro finish. I do want it, but not giving a solid hundo for it either. If anyone wants it, $99.99 is opening bid.

Looks like they might have put black paint over the wear thru on the body. Would probably wear off again. I'd rock that bad boy. They fact it has that kind of wear means it is likely a player. The ring rash on the board is pretty severe and there seems to be a lot of gunk/mold or something on the frets. A good cleaning and it would likely be alright. Certainly not more than a C note in my world.

I'm sure it will go another 7 days without any bids again. The overpriced 92 was a studio baby just missing the truss cover. Apparently my offer of $150 was deemed not worthy of a reply (my previous contact ended up causing him to lower his listings to $200), and it is no longer on eBay or Craigslist, so perhaps he got a better offer.

I'll have to call that pawnshop later in the week and see if anything can be done about this one, I would rock it too, but my top offer would be $80 total. If I got it at that price, I could still consider another epi bird, which I would like for a tribute band. Did peavey ever make a t bird clone?

Okay Peavey fans, I need some help.

I recently picked up a Foundation S with active pickups. The P pickup works fine, the problem is the jazz pickup. The J pickup works great on the D and G strings but I get nothing from the E and A strings. I have swapped out the battery and checked the wiring (to the best of my limited abilities) and I can't see anything wrong.

Do I have a dead pickup?

These are the pickups in question

Sounds like a pickup issue. I don't know these pickups, but logic would tell me there was either 2 or 4 split sections in the j pickup, and half have gone bad. Probably not easily fixed if the pickup is sealed. A replacement J pickup would be necessary.

This one is truly relic though, beat up and played hard for 20+ years. But abused because hey, fury was a cheap bass, people treated them like squier beaters. The cracked pickguard at the input jack bothers me though, but that is easily replaced. Bad choice of knobs too, like the top part of the old ibanez stack pots on the vari mid sound gears of the same period.

The neck looks relic, the body, yeah it's janky. For $75 I'd still rock it though. But some sucker might bid on it... And I really should be focusing on that bird. The re aquisiton of a fury is more of an ocd thing, considering I already have my p bass and a milestone II. But I would really like a P with a jazz neck like a fury. I didn't appreciate it enough when I had one. It was just another cheap bass back then and I had upgraded to fender jazz basses.

Just be patient....one will pop up before long you can be sure.

That's a split coil humbucker wired in parallel and either the coil failed or a connection from the coil to the lead failed. Virtually impossible to fix due to the potting compound. I'm pretty sure they are EMGs but don't know what model. Look up the bass serial number and that will give you a starting point for the EMGs available that year.

I don't "need" one, just like I don't "need" a TV silver Thunderbird. However I sold all my 24 fret Floyd rose guitars (ibanez RG550dx 92 ish, Jackson Kelly professional std, 1992 ish both MIJ), and there is a nice looking detonator for sale in my area... That is possibly more practical in the long run, since I do miss having a "super strat" and would like to take on a guitar band again.

Detonator had sold, back to the bass grind. The pawnshop about an hour away (when traffic is light, so closer to 2 hours when they are open) is pretty firm about the price on the TV silver bird that has been there a while, so it will stay there a while. I helped the other guy sell his fury on ebay, lowering his price to $200 was not low enough for me, but it might have been low enough for a lurker on this thread ;)

So now that leaves the last remaining one, not counting the one missing the tuner. This one has been listed at $250 for over a month. But truth be told, I like the natural finish, looks like ash too. It is later 90s so likely has the cheap pickup and electronics, but if I don't like the pickup I would move my QP from the milestone to this, if I get it.

I am willing to go $150 again, but this is being sold by an antique store...

what would you guys be willing to pay for this?

Looking at it again, it must be a stripped bass refinished in clear, the forearm contour is a dead giveaway, but maybe that is normal for a peavey. For some reason it didn't stand out or I assumed it was a lighting thing. I may not be as interested anymore.

Agree it looks sanded, and not a great clear-coat finish.
I don't think that is ash, the Peavey manual for that year says poplar.
Cheaper pickup and electronics and I think those last model necks are not as nice as any previous Fury years.
I would wait for a better one to come along.
