Hi all...anyone know if a warmoth or other "replacement" neck will fit a Peavey? I have a fretted 4 string Dynabass and would like to make it a fretless, as I really don't use it much anymore, but I loath ripping the frets off a completely stock bass, if I can just swap out a neck. Oh, I would also like a number please. Here she is:

I carefully measured the heel and I'm getting 2 and 7/16" all day. Seems most have 2.5", but I see quite few that say 2 and 7/16". Stratosphere makes a nice graphite one for around $350. Seems like a lot...I could get a brand new Squire fretless for $300. Might just leave the dyna alone and do that. Decisions, decisions....

@BEADG63 ....the best way I've found to compare neck heels is to measure the width at the center of the last fret and the distance from the edge of the last fret to the end of the heel...... given they have the same number of frets and heel shape. Trying to measure at the widest point at the radius is difficult since there are no hard points.

You're really talking about wanting a Foundation-FL They do come up for sale periodically.

A foundation neck will bolt onto yours.... pay attention that it has a ring around the neck and uses the titan tuners.

Don't loose your neck etc, as your bass has a ton of menu style upgrades.

When I ordered my Foundation, I remember paying extra for natural mahogany body, rosewood etc... I'm guessing your bass was probably upcharged about $200 (in 1987 dollars)

I have a Peavey Forum (pj version of the fury) that I am tinkering with and had to loosen the strings so I could pull them off the pegs. When I tried to put them back on i would tighten it, hear a pop, it would go out of tune, pop, out of tune, then eventually the string will pop out of the peg. After try again a few times, now the string looks smooth where the tuning peg should grab it. I'm using DR strings on it and didn't experience this when I initially strung it.
Are the pegs worn out? Do these pegs prefer silk wrapped ends? Has anyone else experienced this?

When I string my basses I put the string in the hole post until it touches the bottom, give it a good sharp bend on the outer part of the peg, and then about one to two and a half wraps around the post before tightening.

You may have a bad/stripped out gear in that tuning machine head. When it pops does the peg release?

No, the string pops out of the peg.
As I said, the strings went on the first time no problem. I had to take it off to get to the pickups, and when I tried to wind it back on it started slipping under pressure. The inside coil where the string makes a right turn to wrap around the peg is now smooth from being ground down front popping out (only took three tries for that to happen!) This has happened before on other pegs. At first I thought maybe the string set was the problem, but it happened with a different set now too. The common thread was that they were both nickle wound (soft metal) and don't have silk or the rough wound ends like Rotosound does.
