I got my Rudy Sarzo back from my luthier friend's shop (check a few pages back if you're interested in the whole story).
The truss rod/neck was a question mark, but it was salvageable! The neck straightened out enough, there is still some play in the truss rod and he was able to remove the paint/whatever gunk that was on top of the fretboard. Tuners were changed to some basic OEM versions, and now I got a nicely playing fretless Rudy Sarzo.
He didn't file the brass nut, so it is just a tad too high but not enough to hinder playing. I will fix that at some point when I get to fixing the battery wires of the active preamp.

Had a revelation last night, while playing a show. We checked with my Darkglass VBD as my eq, and everything sounded great, not surprisingly (pic shows the pedal originally on). Practicing earlier on with headphones through a cheap Rock-It, though (with no fancy eq), I thought about how my US Cirrus sounded awesome with only a touch of a midrange bump from the active eq (Millennium preamp). It was almost spot-on for Flea's growly tone from his recording of "Bust a Move" (Young MC). So, after soundcheck, just for the hell of it, and because Bust a Move was on the setlist, I bypassed the Darkglass (bass' active eq was flat at the time), and went back to only the bass' preamp with the slight midrange bump. Well, I went the entire night with only that...every other parameter was FLAT, both pedal and combo. The Millennium preamp, paired with the Cirrus' hog body and walnut neck, sounds incredible for possibly the simplest active setup I've ever had.
I'm now seriously considering selling the Darkglass pedal. Wow.

Is that a Cirrus bolt? I thought they were all walnut bodies. I know mine in, but it's natural. I have a G-V that's "your car blue", bought it from Scott Grove.
And finally I was able to snap a pic of my fretless Sarzo Model. Note the "cool" golden deer drawn in place where the last frets were before they were chiseled out.. 
I’ve got a gig next week taking me through Meridian, MS. Is there anything worth stopping to see there? Do they still have a shop or headquarters? Do they do tours?

I thought that might be the case. Just wanted to make sure before I decide to extend my trip.
Too bad. I've seen the videos of Peavey closing the plants down. They had so many buildings. It literally looked like you were driving into a college campus with the big Peavey Inc sign welcoming you in down the first long driveway. It must've been like heaven when the Cirrus was king in the late 90's / early 2000's.
Will look like a college campus soon enough. Mr Peavey donated the grounds of Plant 2 to a local school.
It seems there is a Millennium 5 with a flame maple top and pau ferro fingerboard on the way to my house. I wonder how that happened?

It is! This was the only actual color, to my knowledge, and then the natural bubinga and mahogany-looking ones (like yours). You got yours from the same guy I got mine off of...Ebay, right?

This one has a flame top with that Tiger looking finish. It was in Pennsylvania. I'll post photos after it arrives. The photos on Reverb were not great.

That's right, PA, my bad. I was looking at that one for a while, now I have my eyes set on a teal one, but the price is a bit high.
I tried to resist after he lowered the price but a USA Millennium for about the price of a MIM Fender is hard to resist. I have a terrific Millennium J/J 4 string that I got for a bargain price too. It is a killer bass...but sounded like crap with the original Peavey strings on it. I was shocked at how bad that bass sounded with the Peavey strings.
The Millennium 5 will get a through cleaning and new strings and a set up when it arrives. I may have to shim the neck as that is quite common on Millennium basses. I did shim the neck on my 4 string and now the action is fantastic. I used it recently in a church concert and it sounded lovely.
Beautiful bird's eye maple in the neck on that one. I agree that the price is steep. He has those basses in the Talkbass classifieds too.
